oh dear, swings much? oh well, here's to 26 months in the black

+$1550 at the tables
also:
+$1500 in rakeback
+ $200 in rake race, $50 Take2 bonus
- $100 learning how to lose in donkaments

net +$3200

I also accrued about $150 in bonus medals, but won't count them until I cash them in I guess.

First 4K or so at 100NL FR... rest is my first shot at 6max, moved upto 200NL in the past 10k'ish hands.

Not liking my red line @ 200NL, I've been c-betting less than optimal imo.

From FTP - mostly 100nl, some 50nl in the middle.

From PS - everything from SSing 200nl to full-stacked 50nl. SSing= insane variance and boredom so it looks like I'll finish up there with 50nl and 100nl.

BTW, ps games WAAAAY tighter than everywhere else or is it just me?

I played really bad live, but I'm up $747 on the month,
-80ish FTP
+80ish PS
+905.71 RB
+283 Bonus

Another $2k month, fuck September, bring on All Hollow's Eve!
Check out my self-deprecation here!

Dude, you're clearly 100x the player I am and I'm not trying to criticise just for the sake of it, but you must surely be a serious bluff-monkey to have a graph like that? Do you just fire off three barrels like all the time?

perhaps if you played deeper once your run good started you'd have made more money?

The funny thing is I honestly don't feel like I fire three barrels all that often. Nor do I feel like I bluff too too much postflop. I think my graph has to do with a few things. Probably the biggest factor is getting into a lottttt of 20/80s preflop(too many in fact, and is a reasonably big leak). 4bet calling off a lot of pairs from the btn, or 3bet/jamming a lot of pairs on the btn vs co has resulted in a pretty crappy blue line.

I also feel like I bet rivers a ton in spots (esp in position) with marginal hands that most people would probably just check back. This results in almost every small/medium sized pot that most people have as counting towards showdown winnings, as counting towards my non-showdown winnings. I think this adds up huge over the span of 40k hands in a month. (Imagine how many times you get to the river in a 10 bb pot and just check back where you could make a very very thin value bet. 100-200 times a month? That's 10-20 buyins that are interchangable between showdown and non-showdown right there)

I don't plan on changing the latter too much, but I plan on changing the 80/20's stacking off quite a bit this month, so we'll see how much that helps.

I agree though, in general I'm not a fan of my graph.

griffey: That graph is absurd. I can't imagine the type of play it would take to generate that. Getting into a lot of 80/20's would definitely make your blue line go down, but I can't imagine winning the other pots pre would make your red line go up that much. /head asplode

After months of making money at 1/2 while giving it back at 2/4 I decided to swallow my pride and give up 2/4 for awhile. Easier on the mind and better for the bank account.

My unmanly, bumhunting, failing to valuebet and bluff enough graph in all its glory.

+1.2K RB and 7K month is not bad, though id much rather have a 10K month and run hot at 400nl. Such a PITA to run bad taking shots.

Ya I guess that does look a bit silly, but I kinda pretend the 5/10 thing never happened because it was 1) lucky 2) stupid

Basically I've been trying to move up to 400NL forever and everytime I set aside 3K to "blow" on taking a shot, i run like absolute dogshit. I guess for me more I want to regularly play 400NL, but its hard to do so running bad. today continued the trend running terrible, minus $600 EV. So I guess I get to go build up another 3K to blow on running bad in another 2 months, awesome

Eventually though I'll run like baby jesus. COME ON ONE TIME, LIKE JESUS LESTER!!!

I bolded your problem. Do you ever sit down at 1/2 and set aside money to blow? Stop loss yes but at least give your subconscious a chance at success.

I've had a very similar problem for a while, but running $600 under EV at 2/4 is not a big deal at all, I think you may be underestimating the variance... It's really just 1.5 buy ins, its not a big deal at all according to the stakes.

I played a hand today where I checked back the turn to induce a river bluff in a 4bet pot after 1/4 potting the flop and calling a bluff raise w/ top pair. The river made my opponent a very unlikely set, and instead of breaking even for the session I was down 900 bucks...

I think my mistake is I keep taking shots too early, because I'm down 4k in ev at 2/4 since trying to take shots at it for the last 5 months and I keep getting beat down back to 200nl. Maybe I should heed my own advice here.

I think I have to call you out on this one.

It's almost ridiculous to assume that because you are v-betting the river more thinly that its the biggest reason for your high red line and low blue line.

If you really were making thinner value bets and bluffing more often with good frequencies, your blue line would not go down, it would go WAY UP because you would be inducing c/r bluffs from worse hands, you'd be be getting called by worse hands and you'd be able to checkraise (and b/3b) the river more thinly for value. All of these things imply that you are getting to showdown, and if you are doing them better than your opponents, it would be impossible for it to be the cause of your blue line.

I think you need to take another look at this and re-consider.

Meeloche/Marshall:

Yeah I worded that kinda poor. I'm definitely not "blowing" it, If anything leaking a little value from being too passive and not bluffing cuz the money is bigger/players better/mind fuck.

Anyway, I wrote that complaint in the middle of running bad in a session, not the best time to write on the forum as the previous Sep 30 sesh i ran 2K under EV all in 2/4, then to go down another 600 in ev was again frustrating. I kept at it though and I stayed calm and finished the day up $600 total even though i finished minus 800 EV. At lowest in sesh I was down 1300 total so it was nice to stay calm, play my game, and turn it around.

Biggest thing actually that can be tough is playing like its just 200NL! I know it seems silly but I keep expecting to make adjustments I don't need, and the game is playing a lot closer to 200 than i thought before. I seem to do best when I just play my game and not really try and adjust at all or be scared of any regs.
