This is his 4th hand at the table and I have no reads. His flop raise is awfully large considering it's a pretty dry board. What's standard here - just call and see a turn? Am I hoping he bets or checks the turn?

Your flop bet seems huge to me, given the board texture. I'd bet like 2.5-3.
As played, given your sizing, I'd probably fold this a fair bit. I'm only tempted to call given BD flush draw.

I'd call because your big flop on a dry board means weakeness more than strengthness to some people.
Also if you think the betsizing means that much strength, it's reasonable for villain to call one of the 2 hands you're putting him on instead of raising them.
Of course we're bluffcatching, but this is 50NL, I don't give the big bets that much credit and I'd like to randomize bluffcatching based on handstrength so this one I'd call.

This is 100BB cash games Court and you will really need to learn that TP is not the nuts. Bet sizing will allow you to play more poker. You need to bet less so you can also bet less with air. He's not folding to $4 and calling/raising $2.50. Also, not big on 4x preflop anymore either. When IP you don't want to be starting the pots off larger with a wider range of hands.

I did fold to this raise, I just felt nitty afterwards which is why I posted. I initially folded because it was a wtf moment and I've been very rarely raised on the flop since I've started playing again. Seems like the hands that I'm unsure about are made more difficult by my bet sizing so I'm gonna have to work on that quite a bit.

Courtie, I think he's bluffing a fairly decent amount on a board like this but folding is pretty good without reads, imo. It doesn't make much sense for him to raise that big with a set.
If you raise 3x and bet 2/3 pot on the flop, he pops you to $7, you have a lot more room to play poker.

I'm usually raising 3.5x UTG and 3x OTB. There rest depends on stacks and players. If the table is tight to my left I will raise MP and CO 3x as well but if I have a fish or someone calling and folding to a ton of flops I will go with 3.5x again. Shorty in the blinds I have been opening the button 2.5x or even 2x at times if they are multi tabling.
I think you would benefit from some real time advice either by a sweat session or two or having a coach that can get you up to speed on the changes from tourneys to cash and a few of the small things to help with the "easy decisions" that may be taking up some of your actual playing time. You have enough in your roll that wasiting 5 or 10 BI's trying to get into cash might be better spent becoming a competent $100NL reg rather than just learning to beat $50NL for a couple BB/100.
Spending the next week watching a bunch of vids wouldn't hurt either.

I'll just say that in spots where you aren't sure, folding is very likely better than calling.
