Hand 1: Am I supposed to just jam this pre? villain is a 48/45/9 who likes to 3 bet a lot, but this is his first 4 bet - he has been about 50% calling/folding when I 3 bet (which isn't that often). I didn't want to lose him by jamming.

hand 1: if thats his first fourbet id just shove.

hand 2: std.

hand 3: i would never ever fourbet shove HU. I'd go with a tightish fourbet/call range against this guy, he seems aggro.
Check out the new blog!!!

Explain your answer to hand 3 a bit more for me please.

Why is shoving bad? How would you have played this hand? What is your calling range against him?

4betting to 55 has better balance because you could do it as a bluff sometimes. In common spots vs. aware opponents you don't want to take lines where you are clearly never bluffing.

1) I'd definitly shove this too, calling the 4bet does look stronger imo.

2)What is our plan if he raises turn on hand 2? There are about a billion combo draws out there yet still unsure whats best...

Also, what if he bets the river.. as played?

3) Its better to just 4bet normal instead of shoving just so u can induce this kind of opponent to shove over with trash. You will also balance this with 4bet bluffs, and it just makes a lot more sense as an overall strategy than just 4bet jam and hope he puts you on AK.

well - it's responses like this that make me keep posting.

I was thinking how coy my play was since he called w/77 - but it is also very MTT oriented thinking.

Also - is mcat correct in just raising to $55 there? I would have raised to more like 70ish.

low 50's is better b/c it costs less when u bluff, and u appear less commited to ur hand than with a 70$ bet, thus allowing him to shove more crapola as well.

although im not sure how we would approach this hand if we have like 22 or A3s, where we actually "want" to appear committed so he doesnt "semi-bluff shove" with say 44 or A7s.. i guess i might shove those
