Just on the verge of moving up to 100NL now after a steady grind of beating 50NL quite comfortably. Been cashing out to fund real life emergencies in the past, but now managed to leave it in and build to $1600.
Is this amount crazily low to move up to 100NL. If so how much, you reckon I'd need?
Also, what are the main differences to expect moving from 4 tabling 50NL to 4 tabling 100NL? Are there actually any good (not just solid) players here, cos I sure haven't found many at 50NL.

and i think the only actual good players you will find are people making low stakes poker videos, so i wouldnt worry about it.

My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

Not to hijack but along those lines is 1K enough to start taking shots at 50nl or wait until $1250 ish? Been beating 25nl pretty good.

Start taking shots with 20 buyins but game/table select carefully and stop if you drop 4 buyins (or sooner if you're uncomfortable).

I can't really table select as I don't have PT or a hud only notes and am unlikely to have notes on players when I am taking a shot. I think I'll just run good

Ok i guess 2.5k seems reasonable. I was kinda just being bored and overly eager with the 1.6 target.
So there must be a considerable difference between the experience and seriosity (new word) of the players at 100 though? I'm guessing it's just a case of less short stacks, less complete idiots without as clue, tighter calling ranges oop and more 3 betting in general?
So with more folding going on do I naturally increase my currently very low bluffing frequency for 50NL, or is this still unprofitable on the whole even at 100?

You can table select by IDing fish quickly and knowing when the person on your left makes your life hard =)

I found little difference in moving up from 50-100. Don't change anything initially. 100NL to 200NL I'm finding tougher.

where do you play carroters?
at fulltilt, i see a lot of the same fish as 50nl and a lot of tags who suck but you'll actually start seeing some players who have an idea and are better than 99% of 50nlers. you'll also see the occassional "pro" as some people grind this stake a lot for a living who will just play a shitload of tables and play an ok game just trying to grind out hands and some actually are coaches at video sites so i guess those would be the better ones.

nah, I just don't like jumping around in stakes and whatnot. I need at least 40 to 50 buyins at my stake to "feel comfortable". This is obviously my personal guide.
I don't like the fact that if I drop 3 buyins I have to drop down stakes. I feel "defeated", and I don't like that state of mind.

I try to play with 10 buyins for every table I have open. I usually play 4 tables, therefore I need at least 40 buyins in any given level.
So say for example, I'm at 100NL. I expect to have at least 4K in my roll, 4 tables of 100NL open. when my roll goes to like 5K, I'll drop 1 100NL and add a 200NL table to "take a shot", then becoming 3 100NL and 1 200NL table open. I gradually keep substituting tables until my roll goes to like 8K~10K, then I'll start playing only 200NL.
This is simply how I feel comfortable playing, mind at peace, ready for whatever. Yeah, its somewhat nitty, but it has kept me out of trouble so far.

Jack Sawyer - the number of tables you play shouldn't have any effect on the number of buyins you want for any level. Why do you need to have x buyins for every table you're playing?

I'm at the same stage and mindset Carroters, with a roll of about 1700 and grinding the PS 50NL tables to build the roll after my Neteller was hacked.
Imo, if you have the descipline to move down after like a 3 buying loss, I'm definately taking a shot at 100NL at 2k, and probably sooner. Feeling comfortable about the quality of your game is more important then 1 or 2 buyins, imo.

yes, yes you are. but to each his own. whatever you feel comfortable with is most important.
im in the same boat as minsin (without the hacking, sucks man). when my roll gets to the 18 buyin level i usually start adding one table and drop it if i get stacked once or lose 1.5 buyins in smaller pots.

Table selection can just mean closing tables as soon as you realise they're bad. By process of elimination you'll end up with decent ones.

Yeah I think 50NL on stars deserves a break from the constant beatings me and minSim put on it
I prolly will start taking shots at around 2k - 2.5k. Only thing I really hate is adding a 100NL table in while still playing 3 50NL tables. I think this would just confuse my mind and just mess up my whole poker equilibrium that allows me to focus and play well. When i do move it'll either be dropping down to 3 tables or it'll be all 4.
Think I'll play a session just now and 3-bet some 50NL nits.

Really? I'm almost always playing across 3 different levels and I have no problem with it. Some kind of bet pot ahk script helps, but even without I don't think it would be that hard 4-tabling...
