After a stressful week of finals, wanted to start it out at 100 NL first before going back to the 200 game.

Hand 1:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Button ($98.50)
SB ($93.60)
Hero ($141.40)
UTG ($85.90)
MP ($117)
CO ($9.35)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q, J.
1 fold, MP raises to $2, 3 folds, Hero calls $1.

Flop: ($4.50) Q, 2, 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $1, Hero calls $1.

Turn: ($6.50) 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $3, Hero calls $3.

River: ($12.50) J (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $10, Hero raises to $30, MP calls $20.

Final Pot: $72.50

His river bet stunk like AA or KK, but he never reraises a river here without a boat.

Hand 2:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($132.60)
Hero ($231.85)
CO ($98.50)
Button ($70.45)
SB ($182.50)
BB ($82.20)

Preflop: Hero is MP with J, A.
1 fold, Hero raises to $4, 3 folds, BB calls $3.

Flop: ($8.50) 3, 4, 2 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $6, BB calls $6.

Turn: ($20.50) K (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $14, BB calls $14.

River: ($48.50) 3 (2 players)
BB bets $10, Hero raises to $40, ....

Final Pot: $128.50

I don't like how i didnt put him allin, i was hoping that the willingness to not put him allin would scare him more.

i don't like the bluff in hand 2. if they call, you're screwed. but if you just call, your ace high is probably good enough of the time.

I don't think Ace high is ever good in hand 2. Especially not 6-1.

hand 1 -- if you're confident it's AA-KK-boat, do you think he can fold any of those to a check/raise? I don't.
I think it was played ok, but probably call the river.

hand 2 I think is a good idea if you have a real tight/solid image and a read he isn't a loose donk, but reminds me when I did it on a similar board with a bad image and iffy read and was shown AK.

I Don't expect any hand that beats me to fold, but rather I would consider it a raise for value, as he may have AQ and KQ enough to justify the raise. But, the more and more i think about it the less I like it.

as usual, your "bad hands" aren't really that bad Jeff

hand 1 river calling is prob best since his "increasing bet amounts" are an unusually "sharky" play for someone who donk min-raises preflop and AA/KK have you beat. Plus since you have a queen less likely that he does as well...

the other hands are fine, but hand 2 is def better with a read. The reason why the river raise is great is cuz when you do it with a made hand u almost always get paid off since fish can t fold a pair.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

In hand 1, a badish player just made a big river bet. I don't think our hand is strong enough to want to raise him.
