not to sure i made the right call....at the time it seemed like i had a really good chance but now im not so sure i did the right thing.

Technically, yes, it was the right call. However, you need to be sure all he has is two pair or less. If he has a set or pair with higher flush draw, you no longer have the odds to call.

Just fold that. You want to be the one making the big bet, not the one calling it. Yes, you have a very strong draw but calling $9 into a ~$1 pot is not a profitable move with drawing hands.

Yeah, I agree it's a fold... problem is that he will call 100% of the time. If he'd bet for instance pot-sized, an all-in move by you would at least have had some chance of making him fold. His very strong bet makes that impossible, plus it suggests he's got redraws to a boat (2p, set), like Miffed already said.
