Here is the situation:

After a quick $200 NL HU scouting I found a previous maniac opponent 300BB deep. Early into the match he doubled my top two up while looking to complete his draw.

For the next 15-16 hand’s villain relentlessly pushes AI pre-flop, two of which was when I made a raise from the button.

I am roughly 200BB deep and villain covers. What is your hand ranges for calling villain AI here?

top 60% if I think he's gonna leave soon, top 80% if he's planning on pushing a few more.

If I say like 77+, Ax+, KJ/KQ is someone going to bump the "NITTTTSSSSSSSS" thread?

Won't searching him in the fishsearch get a feel for how many tables he's playing? If he's playing 3+ he's not leaving in an hurry.

I see what you mean though, I think I was referring to the "feel" I get from players.

I can see the depth to your question though, whilst my initial response was "top 51% duhhhh", we find it a struggle to tell when psychotilt will wear off and sense will kick in.

That's not a horrible range but you should be happier to call with 55 and 66 than with A2 or A3 because you'll dominate his trash more often. If I was in the big blind I'd call with maybe 44+, Axs, A4+, K8+, Q9+, JT. If I was in earlier position I'd probably only call with like 77+, AT+, KQ because I don't want to risk someone behind me waking up with a monster.

Somewhere between the top 15-25% of hands, leaning towards 15%.

You really really really want to be the favorite when all the money is in the pot and he's not exactly robbing you blind this deep.

So you've opened on the Button and he's pushed? Have you limped on the button?

Well he looks like hes going for a while so id go with 77+, A9?+, maybe KQ. I doubt hes sticking around once youve got allin with him so like Fnord says, Make sure youre a "big" favorite.

Limped(1) Raised(2) : From Button

I think peoples calling ranges are too wide, we don't want to be getting it AI pre flop deep with minmal edge.

Personally I think im calling somwhere around 12-13 % of top hands.

The worst case scenario, villain leaves. If villain stays but stop's pushing AI pre-flop, then we still have a decent edge without making borderline calls. I am always a fan of the low variance route.

I think you guys are way too tight. In my experience these guys don't keep doing this for more than a few hands in a row usually. More than likely, he'll leave the table soon and you'll feel dumb that you folded your QJo and cost yourself about $60 of EV vs. his random hand.

Isn't calling deep against a maniac when only a slight favourite, not a worst case scenario?

Villian leaving isn't an awful scenario, my edge is much better playing pots as that is the stronger part of my game. I can either wait for a callable hand, allow him to simmer down, or he leaves in which i finish the match $170~ in profit and continue with my other matches.

So no I don't think villain leaving is a completely horrible scenario... I already have a big edge, i don't need to make stupid borderline loose calls just because he is pushing relentlessly.... especially at a level where i only stand to lose minimum blinding away. I very much doubt he stays and continues to push, hes going to simmer down sometime or just leave.

If I don't pick up 10-12% range by then, unlucky for me but im still in profit without pushing tiny %'s just because i can.
