This is bothering me. The villain is some 19/16ish regular with whom we play some and who can get quiet aggro in blind on blind/button on blind scenarios. I appreciate opinions on raising flop vs flatting.
- Flop seems not too bad for his stealing range (assuming he´s not insanely light being oop and peceiving us to 3bet some 7-10%) so raise?
- We are so near the top our range so raise?
- Actually my range before Im acting is already quiet narrow so flat?
- His range calling + 3betting flop is prob strong and polarized heavily so call?
$0.25/$0.5 No Limit Holdem
5 players
Converted at weaktight.com
Stacks:
UTG ($51.70)
CO ($126.50)
BTN ($40.20)
SB ($55.65)
Hero (BB) ($50.00)
Pre-flop: ($0.75, 5 players) Hero is BB
3 folds, SB raises to $1.50, Hero calls $1
Flop: ($3, 2 players)
SB bets $2, Hero raises to $6.50
Also, during the hand I was worried about how I may want to raise more than 55, KT here to be able to increase my bluffing freq. Now Im very confused, b/c I basically cant rep a lot at all when I want to bluff. His range isn´t that strong at this point, I could be attacking that weak range. Im confused about this.

Tried to get to you earlier but I just do not see why we are raising if we aren't sure of his calling range. You seem to be so fixated in his initial cbetting range. I'd just flat a bunch of streets without seeing an A or 9.

Without specific reads that he's gonna monkey in QJ and KJ and 99 etc a lot your best play is to call.

If the board were two toned I'd feel much more comfortable making this raise as there are many more semi-bluffing hands villain can put us on.
That said, I don't mind this raise, though it may be a bit easier to balance your range on this flop by flatting most hands.

3bet pre imo
I feel this flop is a definite call, I can't see him calling a raise with a wide range.

I somehow figured. I just confused myself with my raising range being so tight. So basically instead of rasing more, Im better off flatting like almost the entire range Im continuing with and should also not be bluff raising this flop too much but rather be floating more medium and junky hands?
And on 3betting, I have him in the 4b or fold camp, so no point in raisig him pre.
Which impact does the following line by him have on our future play vs him?
Flop: ($3, 2 players)
SB bets $2, Hero raises to $6.50, SB raises to $18, Hero goes all-in $48.50, SB folds

really dislike 3betting preflop so its fine
flop is a standard call/float. if we hit on turn and he bets ill call another street.

Firstly, If you have him in the 4bet or fold camp, why aren't you 3betting him enough so the times that you have a hand like KQ you can just 5bet semibluff over his 4bet?
Second, shoving over his 3bet on the flop is really terrible since when you raise the flop you represent such a narrow value range that you should be EXPECTING to induce a 3bet from villain a decent amount of time **as a bluff**. If you had made the raise on the flop with that understanding, then clearly the best play is to flat his 3bet and induce further bluffs from him on the turn and river. Of course this should show you that if you made this raise, you would not be planning to fold this hand at any point otherwise you've effectively turned your hand into a bluff.
Ask questions is this didn't make sense because it's a key concept overall to playing good poker.

So... When we raise this flop more often than villan views we hit the flop strong enough to raise, we induce villan to play back lighter. Which means we should only raise this flop when we are prepared to stack off (our stack off range should be wider because of this) or with air.??
