Villan was playing alot of hands and calling preflop with ATC. I seem to run into this type of player quite a bit. My question is was I correct in calling his shove, or should I have been able to get away from my hand?
Sorry for the format, I would use the converter but I dont have enough posts for links yet.

raising the flop was a mistake here with a player to act behind you and the fact you dont have that strong of a hand. Even though he plays atc and is an overall donk that doesnt mean he raises or stacks off really lightly, but due to your raise your potsuck and have to call the last 4 bucks. The way id play it is to simply call the all in and if grubasek then raises id be more inclined to fold. It realy depends how lightly this guy stacks off and whether hes a passive donk or agro donk.

The reason i just call is that it gives you plenty of room to fold to a push from grub and if he just calls you can likely establish you have him beat and that his range mainly consists of hands like jq,tq,j9,109, weak kings and other weak str8 draws. Thus if the turn is a blank (basically any card under a 9 that doesnt improve our hand) you can push. half the time hell just fold on the flop anyway so youll be hu with the shortstack regardless without having to pot comit yourself with a vulnerable hand.

as has been said, the play vs the shorty's shove is 100% just to call. Our hand is a pretty easssy fold vs a c/r from any type of player other than a complete lunatic donk in this spot, so you really don't want to tie yourself to the pot by making an isolation raise .
