Villain has been at the table for a few orbits and seems a little laggy. He’s running 25/17 over a few hundred hands in my DB.

We have played one hand together :

Seat 2: pleinarnhem ( $210.54 USD )
Seat 4: HERO ( $214.20 USD )
Seat 5: halmai18 ( $247.85 USD )
Seat 3: ShipItHollaBalla ( $333.73 USD )
Seat 1: paperboat52 ( $40 USD )
halmai18 posts small blind [$1 USD].
paperboat52 posts big blind [$2 USD].

** Dealing down cards **

Dealt to HERO
pleinarnhem folds.
awk10 has joined the table.
ShipItHollaBalla raises [$8 USD]
HERO calls [$8 USD]
halmai18 raises [$24 USD]
paperboat52 folds.
ShipItHollaBalla folds.
HERO calls [$17 USD]

** Dealing Flop **

halmai18 bets [$25 USD]
HERO raises [$78 USD]
halmai18 folds.
HERO does not show cards.
HERO wins $161 USD

Next hand…

Seat 2: pleinarnhem ( $210.54 USD )
Seat 4: HERO ( $272.20 USD )
Seat 5: halmai18 ( $197.85 USD )
Seat 3: ShipItHollaBalla ( $325.73 USD )
Seat 1: paperboat52 ( $38 USD )
Seat 6: awk10 ( $100 USD )
paperboat52 posts small blind [$1 USD].
pleinarnhem posts big blind [$2 USD].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to HERO
ShipItHollaBalla folds.
HERO raises [$7 USD]
halmai18 raises [$21 USD]
paperboat52 folds.
pleinarnhem folds.
HERO …

Not sure why I felt like posting this, but what do we feel is best after I’ve just taken a pot away from him? On simple 1st level, is it more or less likely for him to be 3-betting me light?

If we think he’s more likely to 3-bet me light, what line do we like taking?

Even if we don’t think he’s 3 betting light, what is your standard line in this spot vs a reasonably laggy opponent?
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

ugh hand 1 is atrocious.

Hand 2 you can call but also you can fold because I really don't expect someone to threebet light when they threebet the last hand.

When you 4bet A-Q, you are effectively turning your hand into a bluff as it does so poorly against the range of hands he will call/raise a 4bet with. But A-Q definitely has value in a 3bet pot, so i far prefer a call over a fold even though we are OOP.

I like calling the 3bet and check/raising when i hit and check/raise bluffing when the flop is paired, or the board is K-x-x. Other than that i would check/fold most other flops.

i think from a psychological standpoint he is more likely to assume you are just very aggressive, and come at you with a wider range of hands.

He may just be feeling his ego kick in too...

The reason hand 1 is so bad is
1. wtf do you think he folds besides QQ-TT which he checks a good amount on the flop.
2. Your hand looks exactly like mid card type hand since you just cold called twice. If I'm opp I put you on a bluff or a fd and look you up real light.

these are great points if my image is tagg

running at 33/22ish, I peel a huge % of hands in position here that range from 22 to AQ, since these are usually hands I cold-call with preflop

this may be besides the point since my opponent doesn't know much about me. I think your points are great if I run at 21/18 and villain knows it.
