Ok, so boring questions but input is appreciated.
I'm starting to get into playing 25nl 6-max coming mainly from $10 and $20 sngs.
Anyways, I play on a mac so cannot get PT and PA HUD without running parallels, and buying windows etc. I usually 4-table.
I hate not knowing my winrate etc, but also is it a big mistake not using a hud? I know its only 25nl and shouldn't be too hard to beat but I am wondering if I am making a big mistake not getting these.
I have been playing for a couple years (about 6 month for realz) and don't even know what I run as far as vpip/pfr.
I assume most 25nl players are not using one?
Anyone using these on a mac?

i play 25/50 and have never used a hud. you dont need one to win at any level, but i think they might be fairly helpful for like 200-600nl.

Hmm, ok thanks. I just feel that I am playing majority of hands against what are essentially unkowns and get into some tricky spots that could be avoidable. I could take better notes I guess.

Yourfather, your from NYC? What part? Queens here, haven't met any other FTR that's a new yorker.
I four table as well and did about 50+k hands at 25NL with it. On PS atleast, there are quite a few members there who are using it. I found it invaluable but defintely not absolutely neccessary. I did about 15k hands hudless (from work so no PT or nething) but did only two tables and was able to maintain a 4+ptBB but I doubt I can do that with 4 tables hudless.

Besides HUD, PT definitely helps improve your game if you take the time to learn it and review your sessions. Even if your hudless, PT makes a big difference.

Haven't had too much difficulty so far, I was more concerned that I was losing alot of value not having it.
Wish i could run PT on this mac.
And I've been living in the LES for the past few years.

This is so much better than playing with a HUD. I stopped using mine a while ago when Ongame upgraded and somehow the HUD software didn't like it. I've never gone back to using one though. You're forced to pay much more attention to your tables and get a quality read on your opponents. Who cares if he plays 30% of his hands preflop? The big money goes in post flop anyway, and you need more than a "fold to cbet" and useless aggression number to figure how good your hand fares vs theirs.

Don't rely on poker software to record your winrate.
Of course the software has uses and I use it at sites that allow (I don't find it makes a dramatic difference to profitabilty, compared to sites that are unsupported). However it should offer an edge, the problem being that maybe sometimes my game deterioates due to it.
That's not the point, the point is DON'T RELY ON POKER SOFTWARE TO RECORD ACCURATE RESULTS. That must be done manually, set-up a Excel spreadsheet, or something.
Whatever other info software may provide, none that I know can provide 100% accurate accounts. Over hundreds of thousands of hands that doesn't greatly matter for some queries, but I would strongly recommend keeping your own records in order to track overall balance.

in my experience the difference is insignificant, and probably due to things like closing the table before the hand is over.

Poker Academy Prospector works on the Mac, and it works a charm with the other three that do run on a Mac, which are FullTilt, PartyPoker and PokerStars
They have not updated it in a long, long time though.
No HUD though, but I have never used a HUD (never felt a need or desire to, and I beat the games fine), so I can't say
HUDs are there to give fish hope imo

i'd say that HUD are prob invaluable for peeps like Spoon who are multi-tabling FR nutjobs, but if you're playing 4 tables of 6-max $25nl (which is what I play), you should be fine just watching and taking notes.
I tried running Hold 'em Ranger for a bit, but found it just slowed me down, constantly checking stats etc. Only thing I miss about a HUD is the showing of all mucked cards automatically - I'm sure I can run a program that does just this for me, but meh, I quite like flicking into the instant hand history.
I also think (and its been said many times before) that by not using a HUD at the low levels you learn to play poker and pick up on things that you may otherwise miss. Then when you move up levels or tables you can implement HUDs into your play.
