opponent runs 20/16 and seems pretty aggressive and generally and ok player. Last hand he caught me making a river bluff, but otherwise i've been playing solidly.

I'm thinking... Yeti Theorem

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Button ($150.70)

SB bets $12, Hero raises to $36, SB raises to $110, Hero ???

lol

do you guys really think he's going away in this hand?

Are you shoving BECAUSE he 3-bet you on the flop? If he flat called, I'd imagine you would be more afraid of the K?

without showing me cards i could tell you that SB should have called your flop raise then pushed over any bet you made on turn, or push riv if it checked through

calling and pushing the turn is scarier but shoving flop is o.k. too.

Also, if he bets into you on turn after you call the flop 3-bet then he has the goods (assuming he's a thinking player like you say). Imagine your line from his POV...
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

What the hell are you thinking?

yeti theorem...first time i heard of it. makes no sense. why would the 4bet on that kinda of board be a bluff all the time? is it because if you had a hand you'd just 4bet AI instead of leaving yourself some money behind?

Yeti Theorem actually refers to the 3-bet on this board as being a bluff, not heros 4-bet. The idea is, if you actually had one of these hands you wouldn't blow your opponent out on the flop.

i wasnt saying that, i was saying most of the time someone would make that sort of raise with a real hand id expect them to show up with a boat a lot, not everytime, not even close to everytime, but alot.

The baluga theorem is when villain flat calls your flop bet in position, then raises your turn lead.

why "baluga" meaning = must be good in the sense of baluga caviar?? opposite of "yeti" (doesn't exists).

Also - important part of the theorem: raise on the turn == 1 pair no good.

i believe it's "reevaluate" not necessarily fold. there was a thread that advocated calling down on certain flops more than others, i.e. if it's all high cards you should be inclined to call (i think that's how it went).

i've always thought of the Baluga Theorem to be plain common sense.

well I dunno this thread is first I heard of is so I googled "beluga theorem" actually getting two "definitions" (from random blogs/sites

1) a turn check-raise means your TP is no good
and
2) a turn raise after a flop call means one pair no good

Interestingly, the search had no twoplustwo resutls... I wonder if they block spiders?
