Not really short handed specific, but it was 6max so it can go in here i guess.

I love betting my flopped trips. I play 25NL 6max on Party, and if I flop trips, I'll bet the shit out of it (well, I'll throw out a pot-sized bet). As soon as I bet the flop hard, most players will refuse to believe that I'm not bluffing. I have had hands where I have flopped trips, and bet the pot on the flop, turn, and river, and gotten called each time, only to have the other guy flip over two pair or a mid pocket pair. Don't know how this works in higher stakes, but it works very nicely in 25NL.

On the same note, most 25NL players don't bet their trips either...

I dont get the hand history all I see is you representing a hand you dont have. Nice play but whats it got to do with sets??

well i guess i'm talking about three of a kind If people are being aggressive and betting at the pot, they generally don't have the set. If they are checking and calling they generally do have the set.

I never really thought of it that way. Then it sets you up for being able to bluff the flop later.

I usually, like the original poster said, slowplay them to have people build the pot because betting on the flop may scare them all away.

You may or may not catch a caller if you bet, but it might pay off more later on.

Sets should always be bet out unless the board is truly pathetic (Rainbow unconnected). First of all they are vulnerable to straights and flushes, and second of all your building odds to call a turn raise on a coordinated board to potentially fill up.

I will slow play a set heads up or three way when a big bet comes out before me. If it's up to me I bet. People bow out on the turn and river when their hand shits the bed. Bet out your set and you get the usual loose flop calls.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

That's a good approach. You can make exceptions, though, if someone else raised pre-flop and is likely to bet the flop no matter what's out there. Then it's check-raise time.

Yeah i agree i always bet my sets, the only exception is when i call a raise and the board is something like A38 rainbow. Then occasionally i'll slow play and just call because they almost definately have TPTK and no one card can screw me over.

By the way, what are the odds (not percentages) of sets and 2pair filling up?
