Villain is a guy sitting at a few of the 1/2 deep tables. His preflop raising and 3-betting frequencies are pretty standard, but on the flop he raises c-bets too often and he has a tendency to go too far with one pair hands. He's the type of guy who check-raises the flop with top pair, decent kicker and then stacks off with it when he gets 3-bet. Most of the time when he raised the flop and showed his hand down, he had a pretty good hand, but I did win one big pot off him when he check-raised a gutshot and bet the turn and the river and I called him down with top pair.

Here's a previous hand that I think is relevant, where I played a combo draw passively, rivered a flush and check-raised him and he paid me off with a set. After the hand he berated me for not raising the turn (LOL).

Let's do this street-by-street, first of all everyone just calls the flop raise this deep right?

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $2.00 BB (2 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Button ($761)
Hero (SB) ($725.75)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 7 8
Button raises to $6, Hero raises to $20, Button calls $14

Flop: ($40) 5 8 3 (2 players)
Hero bets $28, Button raises to $88, Hero?

I like this actually. mostly because most of his very strong range on this flop (sets) will probably raise you again this deep (though they will sometimes call). Most draws will just flat your 3-bet though.

If called, I probably b/f a blank turn and even b/f a diamond turn.

I think this deep game theory says we should call as the only hands we really feel like getting in here are sets, and we have those too little of the time (especially because we threebet pre). He has a sick advantage on this board and he probably thinks this as well (oh look i can rep a set).

That being said I cant imagine him raising anything here but a set and like AA-99 (maybe, unlikely) or a total bluff (even given reads). I like calling best because a lot of the time he's not firing three barrels as a bluff and we can get extra value when we hit a flush or two pair and he hits tp or some other pair.

I really like this.

To add I think that they only way I'd consider raising here is if you think he'll slow play a nut hand cause 3 betting and then folding seems like a waste.

OK, I called and the turn was the 5 . I checked and he bet $130 into $220. Should I just fold because I could be drawing dead? I kind of didn't want to fold because with me having an eight and there being two fives on the board, there's so few flopped sets for him that aren't blocked.
