As for "what hand opp had" issue. He could be saying that to make me think that it was a mistake so I bet into his monster.
But then he knows I'll think that, so maybe he has crap and he want's me to think that he wants me to think that he doesn't want me to know he has a monster. OR he wants...
Sorry. But if you've seen The Princess Bride, you get the idea 
I decided to call based on the idea that with this guys cards there's every chance I'm ahead.

Turn bet gives the flush odds to draw out, I guess.
Based on the read I'd bet all 3 streets about half the pot.
