Hands that a nit will call a turn bet with: anything with an ace (split pot), sets (and then just for the 'house draw, and there's no way he has a set anyway), and that's it. Much better to check and get the disbelief call on the river. He'd fold all of his one and two pairs, more than likely, to any decent-sized turn bet; but he would call with some of them on the river after a turn check/check.

I figure that after his flop check his range is like 88-22 and perhaps some non-broadway SCs. So it's either bet to induce or check to induce. No way I thought he was ghey enough to check KQ behind on the flop.

flop : how many hands is he calling with that you are crushing?

Not many. So from your perspective, checking is fine since you're hard-pressed to call a raise and even if he calls, you'll be oop in a pot where lots of cards help him and pretty much none (except Tx) help you.

From his perspective, your hand looks like a very weak hand that's either gonna fold (88ish) or a hand that he can likely get 1 street of value out of (J8, AJ... but you'd probably bet all of the Ax where X is a pair).

So he can either underrep his hand and hope you call his "bluff" on the turn or riv or just blow you off your hand right now

On the turn, it's unlikely you're ever getting 2 streets of value. I agree that it looks bluffier to come out and bet the turn because of the implied threat of 2-barreling the riv, but do you really expect him to call you down on 2 streets without an ace?

From his perspective, what hands are you calling with on the turn that he can extract from on the riv? Also, if you have an ace, why not check behind and fill up?

Riv is played fine both ways imo
