JL will become famous soon enough
Here are my stats after my first 1299 hands at mostly $50nl and $25nl 5 and 6max (ive managed to break even so far):

VP$IP: 33.56
pf Raise: 20.63
AF: 2.25

Now this is a drastic change from my Full Ring stats which are after 42000 hands:

VP$IP: 18.66
pf Raise: 7.43
AF: 1.85
BB/100 hands: 8.89

I think I need to tighten up my short-handed game considerably. The swings in SH compared to FR are shocking. Here are some sample hands of me not knowing what I am doing

Hand 1:
Villain is a tagg, and about 5 hands earlier pulled this exact same move on me with about the same kind of flop after i Raised PF. I folded last time...My image at this table is Slightly loose/weak.

PokerRoom No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($48.00)
MP ($110.90)
Hero ($63.25)
Button ($25.45)
SB ($51.40)
BB ($24.00)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 8, 9.
2 folds, Hero raises to $2, 1 fold, SB calls $1.75, 1 fold.

Flop: ($4.50) 7, 2, 8 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $2.5, SB bets $10, Hero bets $24.5

Hand 2:
I know this should probably be fold PF (or should it??) Villain is on button, and he is X-Loose Maniac, with a VP$IP of 65, and PFR of 27%...Do i defend my SB here?
His check on the flop scared me because he doesnt usually check much. (AF: 5.5 on the flop)
I Probably should have folded the turn...thoughts??

PokerRoom No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Hand 3:
Here's another one where I am not sure if I should fold PF or not. Villain is ridiculously LOOSE, 95% VP$IP. Loves to bluff every pot.

UTG checks, Hero bets $7, UTG calls $7.

River: ($28.50) T (2 players)
UTG bets $15, Hero calls $15.

Final Pot: $58.50

Hand 4:
I was reading a reply that Lukie made, and he said to fold this hand preflop OOP to a raise. Does everyone agree here? When its only 5 handed like this isnt JQos a good enough hand to call with?
Thoughts on this hand??
His weak flop bet tells me I am probably ahead...Raise flop? UTG is probably on a draw...How's my turn bet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...I know I have many leaks that need some fixing.
So far I have learned that there are plenty of donks in Short-handed play...I would love to take all their money, but I am afraid that I am just another donk at the moment.

I will post some more HH's that I am unsure of as they come along. I am very eager to learn...any links to any posts that you think i should read, send 'em my way!

Thanks in advance!

hand 1) fold pre - i probably fold to the flop reraise as well...if you think that hes making moves on you, then it would be a good time to switch gears, play a little bit tighter and it looks like hes gonna give you a bit more action on your premiums.

hand 2) just fold pre, you have position on this guy 5/6 times, why make a move on him in the one spot where you dont have position on him. as played, i think i wouldve played the same on all streets post flop.

hand 3)why do u want to play such marginal hands with these loose maniac type players, the best way to beat them is to camp...there not really thinking about how loose/tight you are so just camp him...you have position on him, use it to your advantage.

hand 4)yea, i agree fold preflop, your most likely dominated...your only going to win a big hand if you flop a str8 really...as played i like it, sometimes i lead into preflop raiser so he will tell me where i stand.

hand 5)yea hmm....it kinda looks like villain has something like AK, QQ, JJ, TT...i think nice fold.

Hand 1: Played great contingent on your image (and villians). Villian either pushes or lays down as you're repping an over pair or AKh.

Hand 2: I wouldn't think in terms of "defending your sb", it's what .25, so you're going to jeapordize your stack? If you call with that hand you're really hoping to hit an A. The way villian played it, it's either a monster or, more likely, something like KQ/KJ/QQ. I understand calling (and I think I would have too), but you can justify a reraise on turn or river. A big reraise which, if he folds to, will keep villian honest on the river in future hands.
