hey.

so I'm a 6max $200nl reg and I do okay, but to balance out putting in volume there I've decided to pick up a bit of HU action. I'm just starting at 50nl for now to get a feel for it.

I'm comfortable with most aspects of it already after about 700 hands total, roughly figured out who to look for, only playing 2 or sometimes 3 tables, I seem to be around 50% vpip and a little less pfr.

now the big thing I'd say I'm quite unsure about is 3bet pots. when I play 6max I tend to 3bet in spots where I'm very likely to have position after, whereas in HU this never is the case as the 3bet is coming from the guy without position - so my question regarding 3bets is what types of hands are you doing them with and what sorts of hands do you CALL with?

are we basically 3betting oop with big hands and then total trash? ie we 3bet say TT+, call 66-99 and 3bet yet again the low pp's? I really dislike sc's oop so I tend not to 3bet them, HU or 6max. I can happily 3bet junky hands though as they have little value and I can just take a stab at some reasonable looking board textured flops.

thanks!

Not sure if you have seen this yet, but #2 addresses 3bet pots, and might be helpful.

Either way, your 3betting range, and your 3bet calling range is going to be a function of your villain's 3betting or 3bet calling range. If he is folding often, then you should 3bet often, and you will 3bet your good hands, along with weak hands that are going to show a profit based on FE. If he is calling 3bets often, then you will reduce your 3betting frequency, plus change your 3betting range so it become more heavily weighted towards strong hands, as they are going to be ahead of his wide/weak calling range.

Oh, note.. I know nothing about HU other than how to take money from 100NL/200NL 6m/FR fish that will sit at my newly started tables. But as I've made the move back to 6m, I'm going to start playing HU more often as well.
