Hi everyone, I've been playing SnGs for the last year or so but am just venturing into short handed cash games.

How is the hand below with regards to bet sizing and what amount should I bet on the river? I have $4.29 remaining at this point.
At first I thought UTG was a donk as he made some wild calls and got lucky, but he kept on winning hand after hand so I'm not so sure about him.

Hold'em No Limit ($0.05/$0.10)

SB: ($1.89)
BB: ($4.26)
UTG: ($21.98)
Hero ($6.79)
Button: ($5.48)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with J , J .
UTG calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.40, 3 folds, UTG calls $0.30

Flop: ($0.95) 6 , A , 3 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $0.60, UTG calls $0.60

Turn: ($2.15) J (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $1.50, UTG calls $1.50

River: ($5.15) K (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero ??

Shove river. You have a little less than a psb (assuming that your 4.29 calculation is correct), so I'd shove (& expect to get called by Ax).

I'd prob bet slightly more preflop, flop, and turn, and then shove the river.

Yeah, I think my bets were a little too small all the way through. I did shove the river and he folded, but I think I could have got more value out of the hand by making my previous bets bigger.

I'd play it the same. Now insta-shove the river, it looks soooo bluffy. And expect him to call quite often with (obvious) TP.

$0.50 pre. you want to make it 4x the BB + 1bb for each limper. As played bet a little bigger on the flop and that will allow you to have closer to a 3/4 psb on the river. def shove river though

You have nuts and your turn bet commits you to the pot. Now shove.

The betsizing problem would be more interesting (especially turn and river) if you have had him covered.

Your bet-sizing is generally good, but it's tough to screw up this hand after that gin turn and 2 pots behind. Any reasonable bet is commiting.

Can you elaborate a bit on "taking the pot down" and how it makes you money?

After I was the pre-flop raiser, and UTG checked the flop, I thought I could represent the A and win the $0.95 in the pot, especially since he had been playing a lot of hands.

Nothing wrong with that thinking at all. Your flop bet is also for value because you will get floated by utg limp callers by a bunch of random crap like mid pairs or straight draws even random high card hands that have a backdoor straight or flush draw. I like betting the flop a lot more than checking against this player in this spot.

So you basically tried to bluff him off anything worse than a pair of aces?

yeah the flop logic is pretty bad. The bet needs to be for straight value for it to be good. It sounds as though you are actually trying to bluff with a pair of jacks, when clearly no better hands are folding.
My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

I can see what you are saying, and that would be a stupid thing to do, bluff someone off the only hands I am beating, but as meeloche said, people do call with all sorts of crap that my JJ could still be ahead of. I was pretty sure that if i checked behind on the flop, he would bet the turn and try to take the pot. In this case that would be good as another J came out, but if the J hadn't come, would I then have to fold? As I said, I'm new to cash games, so I welcome all advice, but to me, checking the flop seems weak.

If the turn's a blank I would probably check behind and call a small river bet on any river that wasn't a spade a 2 or a 7 or card higher than a jack.

If I had a better read on this player ie stats and a larger sample of stationy play I would bet the turn for value.
