 Villain is 25/20

I feel that his calling range on the button includes very few kings, so I feel that he is bluffing here a ton with missed draws or small PPs. However, he could easily have a 4 here (43s, 54s, 64s, A4s).

Sometimes I check flop here...not sure what is optimal.

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with 9 9
Hero raises to $21, CO folds, Button calls, 2 folds.

Flop: 2 K 4 ($51, 2 players)
Hero bets $37, Button calls.

Turn: 4 ($125, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $87, Hero calls.

River: Q ($299, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $200, Hero

edit: just noticed I bet too small on flop.

That flop bet seems totally fine to me. But then I'm not at all a fan of the "always bet the pot" theory that has infected online poker. In fact I hate the "bet pot" button on sites that have it. If they're going to bet the pot they should at least have to work the slider or type in the number.

As far as villain, I have a hard time putting him on a range. Could be a standard float with anything, could be that he has KQ or KJ, could be a 4, or any pocket pair 55 - JJ. It might be a good calldown situation.

I love checking the turn as it induces tons of bluffs.

Stay conistent with your plan. You bet the flop for value. Your checked the turn to induce bluffs/pot control and succeeded. Now call down the river.

Wouldnt that be a bluff?

25/20s dont usually call turn bets with draws and probably give up with small PPs.

Not really, I'd consider it more like protecting your hand from whatever he has. Plus, I think you get value out of a smaller PP on this particular turn card. If your read is strong enough that he's going to float and makes moves often enough then I think your line is good, but you're going to have to be willing to call multiple barrels like in this situation. You don't seem comfortable enough with your read on this guy to do that, so I think your best play would be to bet the turn as it's definitely +ev, makes the hand easier for you to play, and makes you harder to play against.
