let's say you are raising 4x the BB and 1 person calls. a few things can happen. But i'm wondering the size of the bet when you miss and want to take the pot.

1. if the flop comes crap and you are in first position, it's unlikely he hit, in terms of the pot, what is the minimum bet, and therefore the most +EV way to get him out of the pot if he missed?

2. the flop doesn't come crap but he checks to you, what bet here will make him fold? and if he calls the stab bet, and there is a draw present on the board, what do i do on the turn and river to win the pot if his draw misses? and how do i sniff out when he's slowplaying a hand?

one more question, i play NL 25 5 man at paradise poker, are people at these stakes smart enough to fold if i rep a straight when there's one card to it, or rep a flush when there are 4 diamonds on the board or do they tend to hang on to there hand?

thanks.

It depends on so much. Barring all reads, if i'm heads up in a pot, and i completely miss, no pair no draw no idea if opp is laggy or tight or whatever...i will fold to just about anything. 1/3rd of the pot would take it. But do that 5 times, and eventually i'm gonna push. Or eventually i'm gonna make the hand and sucker you into another bet or two. Its hard to make a general rule for it.
