I think villain has a set or an Ace with high club kicker, I would try to check/raise him on the turn and build a decent size pot. Was your intention to check/raise him on river try and get a bluff out of him?

Push the river. If he has a FH nh to him. He hasn't played like a set.
Nice title.

what is the river plan if he bets? I think you miss some value from an A/two pair/set here and you can almost always fold to a raise. I would want to see a few possible big river bluffs before I go check call here. I don't hate it, I just dont think most opps are sneaky enough to warrant it.

I'm not folding here, obv.--check the stack sizes. I've been trying the river c/r thing though, and I'm generally finding that you're right. Most players are too passive to use it against.

Don't you think giving a free turn card is a mistake? Another club on the river effectively kills our action, or makes a better flush.

you are giving opponent too much credit. he is probably raising either of these on this flop.
i think they usually have a lower ace and you bet river for value.
