During this hand I had Gabe's rule of thumb about not betting an Axx flop when you raise preflop w/ KK. It worked well, the twist to this one is that the button was shortstack and essentially committed himself to going all in on the flop no matter what. In truth, it was the SB I was worred about, because of the re-reraise. SB seemed like a decent player, and I'd just doubled up on AA vs KK about 5 hands before, so I think he might have been in disbelief that I'd get a good run of cards AA 2x in the same orbit. That was actually the reason I just called his huge re-reraise instead of pushing preflop. And then of course the ace falls on the flop...

The twist here is that because the shortstack had already gone all in, it was virtually a HU situation for a side pot, so I played it with Gabe's line: check the flop, call the bluff on the turn. There was no way I was raising the river, either, AA could easily go over the top. That was a spot I just didn't see the use in getting myself into, so I checked down. Would you have value bet? I was really thinking AAA was possible there, or also AK, given what had gone on just before in the orbit.

Wouldn't you know it, checking the flop induced the bet from the worse hand

WTF is a $6 turn bet into $165? Mmmmm 27.5:1 pot odds.

If he turns over 88 and makes this bet, you should probably call on the off chance he has a heart attack and dies before the river.

All joking aside... should you raise here? Bet the river?

It would be very strange for him to trap bet the turn and trap check-raise the river, I think. Call turn, because if he has an A, he will probably make a real bet on the river. Since he checked, I think you can throw out a $50 value bet on the river.

i did breifly think about a value bet, but w/ the side pot action and the spot I was in there, i just didn't end up having the state of mind to be able to think through it. truth be told, i got flustered, not so much because of the hand in a vaccuum but how the SB may have been using the hand that doubled me up 5 hands previous. in the end, i felt like the SB huge re-reraise HAD to be AA/AK. in hindsight, i do agree w/ the turn bet being the green light for me to value bet on the end. but like i said, this was a really intense moment and i was more or less happy w/ the size of the pot and to be able to check behind. i don't think a hand has thrown me into such a fit in awhile, it was really tough to get through all of these deductions before the buzzer. next time i would give much more serious consideration to a value bet on the river.

Yeah, I think this is a pretty easy push preflop given your opponent's stack sizes. Also, I think the converter screwed up on button's stack size.
