Terrible.

What was your thought process here? He raised preflop. You reraised him. He cold calls. An ace hits on the flop. Where on earth do you get, "OMFG HE HAS AN ACE I KNOW IT I REALLY DO" from?

Bet the flop. Please. If he reraises or calls then you can slow down and figure out why he's still in the hand. By checking this flop you give JT, T9, Q9, 66, 77, TT, JJ, and QQ a chance to catch up to you.

Maybe he *does* have an ace, but it's a weak one. By showing so much strength preflop, and showing so much strength after the flop, maybe he'll figure his AT or AJ is no good here too. Sounds crazy, but it happens...

I'm going to assume that you're just trying to make a point. But if i'm wrong and you actually want critique, just say so

I think you played it fine... if you are trying to convince the table that you are clueless. WP!

since its headsup, i see no reason to bet the flop.

i check/call turn and bet river if he checked behind on turn

no..whats the point in betting? there are no flushdraws, end the only real straightdraw is JT (which seems unlikely becaues of preflop. anyone that called preflop with an ace is not folding on the flop, and all small pairs are folding. a bet doesn't make money, it just loses money to an ace.

I would bet because a smaller pair might take the pot from you if checked to. I dont mind the fact that only weaker hands would fold here, but only by betting are you going to determine whether you are a long way behind or a long way ahead in this spot.

thats what you want. the only way KK is going to make money is by inducing a bluff. betting is wrong here.

All of you who are following this thread need to read this post, by our favorite teddy bear Gabe:

http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...ic.php?t=21766

This is probably my favorite post on FTR. I know you will not want to agree with it right away, but please, PLEASE, read it three more times, and then try it out a couple of times and watch the fucking approach just fucking work. To whet your whistle, Gabe's opening salvo is:

Gabe: since the linked topic above has the hero in position on the button, how does our hero use what we learned from that thread in this situation? What still applies, and what changes because of him being SB?
In answer to your question... it depends...

This situation arrises too often when you have KK, so Gabe's post is invaluable. I don't think anyone can prove betting that flop is a better approach after reading the post. Thanks for the $$ Gabe and thanks for the link alias2211.

thanks Gabe and Alias2211...an amazing thread with thought-provoking logic. Id never though of actually making money from QQ etc in this spot and would like to see a H/H or two. Perhaps Alias or a few more other regular members of the board could post up a few of their favorites for inclusion in the short-handed links at the top? Its a real shame stuff like that isnt stickied somehow.
