after probably hearing that these were hard to show profit on because of luck being such a factor i never gave them a chance. i recently gave the $5+.25's a try on cdpoker...u start with 1000 chips w/ the blinds at 5/10 going up every 7 min...so basically u have all the time in the world to wait for good cards..if u fold, u instantly have another hand dealt to u..of course you won't get action that way but u'd be suprised how tight some people play at these levels...the highly aggressive people aren't hard to beat ..of course u may get bad beats but with the setup u aren't forced to make a hard decision for all of your chips too often..

maybe its just because i'm ADD that i like it so much...in other tourneys or ring games i usually stop paying attention when i'm not involved in a hand so i usually end up playing more hands then i should. but heads up u are always in the action against the same opponent. it turns into a psychological battle. u get to see so many hands that it gets pretty easy to read your opponent unless they constantly change gears AND are highly skilled. that means that by the time the blinds get higher u no longer need cards. u can instantly recognize a situation in which u can bet and your oppenent will fold. manipulation is so easy if u are able to PURPOSEFULLY change gears at seemingly random intervals

since endurance is a must long sessions become very challenging ...constantly being forced to concentrate on hundreds of hands an hour is exhausting. when u become exhausted it gets harder to recognize when u are on tilt.

i think if i stop losing my money in cash games after i build my roll playing these things i'd be doing a lot better. winning 75% and getting 30% rakeback seems profitable enough to me...so i guess now i just gotta focus comepletly on these things until i figure out what level i should be playing at.

i'm pretty sure i'd be correct in saying that collusion becomes nearly impossible heads up? i'm willing to bet that there are a lot of people sitting at the same tables on their cell phones and instant messengers telling each other what cards they are holding. Heads up with me, no one there to help, what other way is there to win besides getting lucky?

whats everyone's opinions on these things..luck/skill? high/low variance?

Deepstacked headsup SNGs are low variance and high skill. Ive played several hundred of these and shown to be a winner at them, but have since switched to cash games. Anyways though, at these lower levels winning 75% may be sustainable, but youd have to be very skilled at these and have a ton under your belt, and if you could sustain that then you should be playing higher. Id try to punch out a good amount of these to get a better idea of where you stand and then go from there. These are definitely beatable, but to show real profits you need to play a lot.
