I am checking the river. Are you afraid to get bluffed off the pot by a missed flush draw?

Reads would help.

This river bet is really bad. Are any worse hands calling? This is definitely the time to check and call pretty much anything.

If you're afraid to get bluffed off the pot, I'd recommend a blocking bet of, say $20 instead of this. Or check/call.

I figured him for a pocket pair by just calling me down 55-QQ. I thought the river bet would be for value.

Weaker hands call, stronger hands raise? (It would probably need to be a bit more in this situation, couldn't see the actual pot size)

a weak river bet could set up for a monster reraise. and what do you do in that situation, with no reads so to speak?

makes it awfully hard to call with jacks.

Yes, JJ is almost surely the best hand here and the pot is worth protecting.

a lot of worse hands call but wont call the turn. If we bet two streets we lose more to a nine

I like a check bet value bet line here rather than bet bet bet depednind on super fishiness of opp to call us down with any pair.

To be honest if he has a 9 more power to him, but it's highly unlikely I'm not really worried about it. Results:

kakapee: calls $60
*** SHOW DOWN ***
andr3w321: shows [Jd Jh] (two pair, Jacks and Nines)
kakapee: shows [Qd Qs] (two pair, Queens and Nines)
kakapee collected $268 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $270 | Rake $2
Board [2d 9c 9d 4s Kh]
Seat 1: anti-rounder (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 3: TheGuru113 (big blind) folded before Flop
Seat 4: hunter138 folded on the Flop
Seat 5: andr3w321 showed [Jd Jh] and lost with two pair, Jacks and Nines
Seat 6: kakapee (button) showed [Qd Qs] and won ($268) with two pair, Queens and Nines

I'm with miffed on this one.. in these situations pot control takes preference over protecting my hand or whatever.

The flop is 4-handed.. I 1/2-2/3 pot the flop and, depending on what happens, c/c or c/f the turn.

This pot got horribly out of control for your hand strength. Yes we need to lead the flop, cause there are alot of overcards that will make your hand look bad on the turn, and we need to figure out where we stand. It sucks that your out of position and makes turn decisions kind of hard. I would probably opt for a strong lead again like you did, fold to any sort of turn raise, and check call on pretty much any river card unless you suspect a slowly played 9, which is definately possible. Again, it sucks that you are OOP here.
