Villain is aggro LAG, 30/25/12% or something, but more importantly the MP in the hand is a megawhale, like 80/10 and never folds anything. I mean wtf is his range here? I have no clue either than thinking he has to have the nuts but i'm in monsters closet mode.

No-Limit Hold'em, $5.00 BB (5 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

BB ($854.63)
UTG ($467.25)
MP ($650.98)
Hero (Button) ($742)
SB ($1151.84)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 10, J
1 fold, MP bets $17.50, Hero calls $17.50, 1 fold, BB calls $12.50

Flop: ($55) J, 3, 10 (3 players)
BB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $41.25, BB calls $41.25, MP calls $41.25

Turn: ($178.75) 7 (3 players)
BB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $135, BB raises $400, 1 fold, Hero wants to fold.

unreal? hmm...I guess i should stop posting hands since mine suck.

So we think he's raising here with stuff like Q9/Q10/K10/A10ss when he knows that I'm never betting this turn thin with the whale in the hand?
Is there really nothing to even discuss here?

No I just meant it's a sick spot. Your hands are great.

I don't think he raises Txss and I'd probably fold.

If MP is such a whale, I'd bet about $50 on the flop, since there are tons and tons of hands for him to call with.

Turn I'd also bet almost pot on this board.

Turn c/r is so tough. Depends what he's capable of. Is it possible he's c/r a hand worse than ours (AJ, KJ), thinking fish can call with worse and you'll almost have to fold everything to that action?

Why give such good odds in a rio spot?

I don't get it? I'm saying rav's flop size is too small, and I'd bet bigger for sure since whale is likely to call no matter what size we make it on this type of board.

I like this post, but I don't think he raises AJ, etc., because our range is Jx, JT, 33 and monster draw and if he raises we fold worse jacks and with fish in the pot and with these stacks, we would have good odds to continue with draws. And he can't be sure that we fold JT,etc. and if yes, he can still lose to fish, which can have 2pair (or better) and will never fold

If I was you, I would have folded. When he raised your reraise, he was already pot commited, he was willing to go allin. Id put him on mainly a flushdraw. Or he caught the 7 to make his straight(8,9) offsuit. Even though you define him as a whale, I wouldve check the hand historys of which cards he would and wouldnt play. When facing a raise preflop.
So what what happened?

i think if BB has a hand like TT/JJ/33 which are not unreasonable to FLAT pre cuz the megawhale has a very tight opening range. i'm a little mixed on his 89 holdings just because if its offsuit u might only have 6 outs in this case.

with a flopped set i think because of MP i would almost always flat in this spot and try to get money in on later streets once the fish comes along.

he could also have the same hand, TJ in this spot right, although i think that hand would be the most likely to raise on the flop as opposed to sets and 89.

i'm guessing because you're over 100bb this makes it that much tougher cuz people tend to play a bit more straightforward with deeper stacks?

--> can you EVER call and re-eval the river as I'm thinking he cant ever shove the river as a bluff cuz you'd be getting like 3 1/2 or 4:1 on a call... ? ie the times he has some sorta weird FD/combo draw he has to give up...

I don't think that raising with draw is good idea for BB, because fish is probably not folding (with this raise size and fish's stack, I think its really bad)
- I mean (on the turn before BB raises) - BB has about 590$ eff vs fish, so why he want to commit about 66% of eff stacks (like he did), if he has nothing and 33% after he makes his draw??

- if he just calls and fish calls pot will be about 600$, with about 450$ eff vs fish on the river
- so if he catches on the river he can DB shove (omg line) - Hero will puke and fish will call

Why would villain make this play? Doesn't it seem kind of odd if there is such a big fish to act right behind him. It makes you think he wants the guy who is going to be an easy target to fold. And if this is the case wouldn't that mean our hand is probably good here quite often?

Does villain really do this with 89? It seems like against a huge fish you would lose value by re raising? Maybe he is trying to protect his hand from a scary river?
