Villain is playing 25/22 or so and has a fold to 3bet % of 89 so far, 170 hands.

These kinda guys that do play looser from the CO and BTN but fold such a big % of their openings to a 3bet are normally an easy target for 3betting. Once I see this flop I think there are 2 possibilities:

He has no Ace: he is drawing to 2 outs MOST of the time and will fold to MOST cbets. In this case I think my best play is to check flop to him and let him either bluff at it or check behind and call my bets on later streets thinking I have no ace either.. If he bets flop I will raise and I might even get looked up by a KK or QQ whatever..
He does have an Ace: I am probably behind so keeping the pot small is nice if he checks behind on flop, but I think the money is going in anyway..?

In this particular hand he checks behind and the turn is a Jack and he had JJ in his hand...so now I'm in doubt about my play in general

L_Clan_Sup3rMaN is on a distinguished road
Fold pre.

Fire two barrels with appropriate bet sizes, B/F flop and turn to any aggression, C/F river.

To assume that a 25/22 plays looser from the button is not a great way to think about 3betting here. It's not that I think it's a bad play but you neeed to use his att.steal stats to decide how loose someone is from the button. If your 3betting to get a loose range to fold then playing this post flop will not be as easy as you think. If your 3betting for value vs his calling range then what are you waiting for?

FWIW, 1K hands is a small sample for all 3bet stats so don't put any weight in your stats for this play or his range. pretty sure most ranges for calling 3 bets are JJ+, AJs+ and maybe KQs depending on history.
