effective stacks are about $70, 50NL. opp is BB, I am SB. opp has been very LAG, lots of pf raises, lots of pot-sized c-bets. has not faced too much resistance at the table, although has been caught with air against the short stack a couple of times. I have played back at him periodically, although not too often as I am out of position.

1 limper from the CO, I limp the SB w/ . BB raises to 2.25 (psb)
CO calls, I call.

I limped half expecting a raise, and didn't mind when it came against this opp.

flop comes:

I pick up 2nd pair and an OESD, w/ a backdoor flush draw, and figure to be ahead, so I go for the CR expecting a ~PSB from opp, and this also lets me know if the shortstack in the CO is interested or not.
opp puts out his PSB ($6) and CO folds, I raise to $20, opp calls.
this leaves roughly 40 behind. and the pot at a little over 40

turn: :Jd:

I push.

what do you think?

I expect opp to fold pretty well everything but a set, or a str8 here, maybe call with an OESFD. J8 may call too, but a lower 2 pair would probably fold.

this the type of flop i would lead given the reads. c/r just puts you in a bad spot when he calls and turn blanks.......just like what happened here

if opp raises the flop lead, what is your play? how about if opp calls and turn blanks, is it a check/fold, check-call (with odds) type of situation?

if he raises, i would push or make a reraise depending on what hes doing. if he just calls i would bet turn again. this is alot different than check/raising the flop because ithe flop goes bet-call the pot is smaller on turn and easier to work with.

have you read super system? this is what brunson talks about alot...he doesnt want people running over him, so even if his draw isn't that great hes going to bet out at it and get his money again hoping the aggressive player is folding.

i definitely see your point about not CRing this flop. it is a lot easier to play the turn with a smaller pot.

i havent read SS, but am expecting to get it for xmas and am looking forward to it.

if I had lead the flop and got raised, I don't know if I would have thought about 3-betting here. perhaps something that I need to work on.

thnx again
