Maybe Im a whimp but you decide.
25NL

$20.00 stack.

delt to me AdKd. UTG

I raise to $1.00 . All fold but one.
Flop: 9,8,2, raindbow.
I bet $2.oo into 3.25 pot.
He calls.
TURN: Ac... I bet $5.00. he calls.
RIVER: 9d... I..... whimp out. I check,
I put him holding a 9. He bets $10.00
I fold.
He was a pretty conservitive player so I figured him not calling me down unless he had something. especially after I bet the Ace, or was he figuring I was just continuation betting and really gambling here.

I always get weak knoeed in continuation betting with or when I keep getting callers.

Any opinions would be appreciated. Be as cruel as you need to be.LOL

Raise.
bet the flop.
bet the turn big!
bet the river, not a huge amount but enough that if he has it he'll want to raise you (eg if the pot is $4~ by the river i'd bet .8/1 into the pot anyway) checking is a nightmare as you have something just maybe not the best and you give the other guy oppertunity to steal. Make him feel you have a nine not the other way round. Still at least your thinking about what your opp has.
I think you have to call once or twice on the river depending on who ur opp is here.

How many hands, pre-flop? A $1 PFR is not very effective with more than 2 opps. I usually go to $1.25 for 3 opps and $1.50 for 4 or more with AKs.

This is a tough hand OOP. At the flop you could be up against an overpair, TPTK , MPTK or even a draw. It would help to know the range of hands your opp. would call the PFR, given position and pot size. I'm not even sure I would follow through with a bluff here (your bet is not a continuation bet, its a probe bet which is really a bluff - if you had position and he checked to you, THAT would be a continuation bet). Against a strong opp. I would check/fold here - especially with a raggy board: your PFR said you had high-cards, now you are trying to represent a different hand - this would look strange and is not the best place to bluff. If you do bluff, you need to bet more. I would come out with a $3.50 bet here. Only someone who caught the flop in a big way will call that. That bet will cause him to reevaluate your hand and maybe put you on an overpair. If he calls and you catch your A, then you can bet the turn and fold the river knowing you are beat.

Getting information from your opp. OOP is always a challenge.

Question Miff. You want me to bet 1.0 into a 17.00 pot?
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

Call that. Not many hands that call a raise preflop have a 9 in them. JT is a possibility, so is Ax, a PP or a slowplayed set, but I think the 9 is unlikely.

I take that back. Most likely holding of his is a slowplayed set after thinking about it more. Good fold. Next time play it like those above said and you'll have more info to go on.
