I was just going to lead weak on the river then I thought. If someone has the Ac and I 3bet push on them and they are halfway aware I wouldn't stack them. Maybe I am overestimating my opponents awareness. I probably am. Really hoping it could look like a misclick.

I tried the same thing 2 days ago, didn't work unfortunately.
I think trying to build some sort of pot by betting the flop is better. Was that a missed c/r?

i like check raising better, since ppl are more likely to bet something than call a humongous all in, at least unless they're mega donks.

But I'd punch myself winning only 12BB in a 4-way pot with a straight flush when it's checked through

jackvance is an unknown quantity at this point
This is sooo obvious.. everybody and their mothers try to overbet the river when they missed building a pot on earlier streets. The fact that there is a 1-card straight makes it all the more obvious.
Your best bet is to go for a smallish c/r I think..

Just ask yourself what you would do with the Ac. If you think you'd bet in this spot if you were one of the villains then a check raise probably isn't bad.

I'm sure most of us would bet with the Ac if checked to. Some might even try to value bet a Kc, so there's a good chance you won't miss your check raise IF someone has a hand to call your push with anyhow.

i like it. you're looking for action from A and K. everyone else is folding.

Q- is not going to bet, and if they do, it'll be small (relative to the size of the pot)
A/K will probably bet for value, but they probably won't call your shove if they have any sort of board reading skills

but when the "horrible" overbet push, you might get a snap call from A/K.

Im really hoping for one of two things with this:

1. I get a snap call from a bad player with Ac/Kc
2. I get a call from a multitabler b/c they cannot read the board.

After thinking it through, in general I don't think you get called here ever (assuming 100BBS). Maybe the shortstack in this hand will call, but that's about it.
I wouldn't call with the A; risking 50 to win 56 with the second nuts.

I think the best play is indeed a c/r.

I would not be surprised if this checked around. So, if we bet $6 (pot) on river, suppose we get called 100% of the time. If our overbet push gets called any more than 10% then it's a better play.

What about overbetting ($10)?

I don't get it. Why push though?

If the Ac is almots guaranteed to bet if checked to, and the Kc might even bet, then we are almost guaranteed at a check-raise with any hands we think will call our push anyhow...

At least this way we get some value out of them, if they would fold to an open push.

because a A/K will only bet relative to the pot size, which is small. the reason they will bet is to get value out of a straight or lower flush, or set. they will not bet big. they will probably bet 50% of the pot, if that.

we're not looking to win $2 more. we're looking to win $80 more.

Right.. but we're not check calling here, we're check pushing. So he puts in however much he puts in and we push then. We get some value out of a Kc (who would for sure fold to an open push), and an Ac might still call the push.

I don't see why he would be less likely to call a check-raise push than an open push, once he bets. But I don't know, what do ppl think. Would ppl with an Ac here be more or less likely to call an open push compared to a check-raise push?

(check-raise push I definitely think is better if there was some more money already in the pot, and villain with the Ac bet on the river and committed himself some more)

i think CRing is the "obvious value play with the nuts" here, where open pushing is the "wtf why did this donk do that?"

c/r'ing gets a pot sized bet and nothing else

The question is, how likely is the openpush to be called vs. someone holding the Ac and how likely is the c/push going to be called?

I think everyone with Ac is paying you off either way. If you check, you might get a bet and a call, or even two calls. You also might get a bet from a weaker hand IP (who will fold to the c/r but would have folded to the push anyway).

A very likely scenario is that no one has anything and won't bet or call. STBY!

I like the shove a lot more if we bet turn, because it makes it seem like we're repping something else earlier.

as played, I like it anyway. I've done something similar with quads, except i made a turn bet. I just shoved river and was called by a straight who thought it would be a split. I think this concept works better with straights (vs. say your boat) and I think a lot of people push with the ace anyway and we don't have to think this hard

doug_thehead told me in chat that he folded the Ac and he knew I was bluffing. He's a horrible weak/tight nit anyways so I bet he was lying. He's a pretty poor player as well, so I bet if he was in the pot with the Ac he would have called off all the money in his puny little stack. He's stacks off very light and I was chasing him around. Mmmm dead money.
