Haven’t posted in a while.

I’ve just been grinding, playing a much more taggy style over past couple weeks than in a long time (think 26/18 instead of 38/24).

One thing I’ve really enjoyed is observing how much differently ppl react to a tagg style (maybe some time I’ll make a detailed post about this).

Just finished what seemed like a really tough session. This is the first time in a while as I’ve felt pretty bored but unchallenged since switching styles.

In the “old” days, these are hands that would be basically unfoldable with my image, since ppl would be making moves on me such a high % of the time.

Any feedback is welcome. I suppose some of these might seem trivial, but they’re all pretty big folds for me… Maybe a bit on the weak side?

While playing extreme-lagg I usually never fold, so it really disturbs me to get bluffed. I feel like I usually have a really good feel for people making moves on me.

The reason I think I second-guessed myself is that I got megapwned in the following hand :

After leading the turn I felt that villain respected me and was incapable of raising me without a set or the flopped flush, (even though he was a pretty aggro-tagg) but that he’d always fold bluffs and flat-call with the Ad. This might seem weird, but I was pretty confident he’d fold Ax to a non-diamond river push since his kicker is usually shit and the board made it impossible for him to have 2 pair :

Genitruc folded

Fold 2 :
The straight-flush draw seemed worthless because of his stack… but hey, I could’ve made the nuts!

Villain had unremarkable stats. Took a VERY long time to call on the flop.

** Game ID 1293279883 starting - 2007-03-30 01:04:37
** Jumping Castle [Hold 'em] (1.00|2.00 No Limit - Cash Game) Real Money

Genitruc bet - $21.00
kriscroc called - $21.00

** Dealing the turn:

Fold 3 :

This seems the most marginal in retrospect. Villain’s stats are 27/7 over a small sample-size. My image is aggressive but not crazy :

- ilpadrino82 sitting in seat 1 with $206.31
- RiveranLol sitting in seat 2 with $93.17
- farrerules sitting in seat 3 with $388.30 [Dealer]
- swarzon_10 sitting in seat 4 with $222.79
- UrYiMnHere sitting in seat 5 with $259.95
- Genitruc sitting in seat 6 with $240.10

swarzon_10 posted the small blind - $1.00
UrYiMnHere posted the big blind - $2.00

** Dealing card to Genitruc:

Genitruc raised - $8.00
ilpadrino82 folded
RiveranLol folded
farrerules called - $8.00
swarzon_10 folded
UrYiMnHere raised - $35.00
Genitruc folded

Thanks for your time. Didn't think taggy poker could be this marginal/interesting!!! (maybe I'm seeing tough spots which aren't really that tough...)
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

Why have you changed up to a TAgg style anyway?

ISF for hand 1 I explained in detail why I lead turn. Talked to villain after hand... maybe he was just trying to make me feel better but he said "that was just like a .01% frequency bluff. Unlucky for you."

I switched to tagg so I could play more. I'm a chronic short-session lagg master but it's so exhausting. Playing tagg is not nearly as emotionally draining.

Switched to a juicy RB deal and am trying to make another 10-15k before jumping up aggressively hopefully to settle in permanently at higher games.

I think all of these are pretty good folds. Even the KJ hand is a good fold there, the majority of the time I'm pretty sure.

The only hand I think is close is the AK hand. Your half pot bet on the turn might come off as weak. Could induce a check raise from any ace, or Axh's. I think if you're going to bet that weak, then maybe you should just check through here for pot control, and induce a bluff on the river.

This is a very good point

It's what made me kind of throw up a bit when I folded.

I bet 1/2 pot thinking that villain would define his hand really well by flat-calling.

I also felt very strongly that I had the best hand since if villain had flopped a monster, there wasn't quite enough in the pot for him to pull a stack-a-donk and have me commited to the pot really.

I suppose that If I had bet 3/4 or full pot the fold is much much easier.
