villain (25/20, seems aggro) 3bets quite a bit, and i usually fold but sometimes 4 bet. i don't think i've called a 3bet before.
at first i was planning to c/r on a non-ace flop, but then i figure i might play TT-QQ like this and he's more likely betting than calling.
is there a definite better way to play here?

What hands do you think call a push that don't bet when checked to? If this guy is aggressive enough, I think checking and trying to induce a bet is not a bad play. If it gets checked through, it's unlikely you missed much value by checking. It also sends a message that you are capable of checking a nut hand to him repeatedly to let him hang himself, which should slow him down.

dsaxton, good points on metagame.
but ya if he has AK/AA/Jx and bluffs he should bet the river, right?
also, what do you think of sticking with the flop check-raise plan?

ok, let's break it down. i always say overbet push when i get the opportunity.
what's the range of hands do you put him on in a light 3bet? all pairs? AK/AQ/KQ?

Um, no. The range you describe is fairly conservative. If he is 3-betting "light," then his range is clearly much wider.

i'm thinking it's the better part of his full 3-bet range here.
definite hands will be TT+/AQ+...but stuff like QJs, 77, etc are possible too, so i'm not sure what his exact range is.

the range i described is 9.5%.
once you add AJ/KJ/QJ you get 13%
JT+ you get 17.9%
what exactly does 3betting light mean? does it mean 90% of his 20% raising range? or 10%?
also, realize that even with open pushing, for him to call is just a little less than 2:1.
