Villain 18/18/13 over 50 hands. He has 3bet enough to feel he's doing it at least a little light.
I am standard TAG(22/19ish) but have been stealing his BB often. A2S for this table session is over 50%.

How do you maximize this hand? Should I "allow" him to hit an overcard(A,K,Q), or do you just build the pot on the flop?

It doesn't look like he's value betting on this flop. I might actually like miniraising this guy to induce a spaz shove from him. It all depends on his post-flop game.

If his bet were bigger I'd prefer a shove though just to balance out my FD's. These smallish raises look so suspect I think they tend to fold their marginal hands pretty easily. Especially if they're 3-betting somewhat light.

I Lead the flop here for 3 reaosns.

1. Its likely to get reriased by overpairs 100% of the time which builds the pot way faster.

2. Overcards will also raise you quite a lot - a guy whos been giving up his blind to someone a lot isnt likely to refuse the chance of taking a stand and semi bluffing a supposed donk lead of like $10.

3. If hes good and has like JJ, QQish hes way more likely to get away from it on a later street after we c/c or c/r flop.

ps. this is jus generally a good spot to extract as your ragne is weak as hell here.

3bet pot... should be getting it with overpairs here either way.

by good do you mean extremely nitty? unless you are a extreme nit hes not folding an overpair in a drawy 3bet pot like this to a c/r

also if you are leading sets here that is going to make you really exploitable and not go well with other things you do... now is a 100nl reg going to exploit you or figure this out idk but im just throwing that out there.

oppenent dependent i like leading this flop for 12 here as all overpairs repop you and basically commit themselves with a large raise due to them being scared of the drawy board texture, also with an agro villain he will read your bet as weakness and also reraise you with air/overcards thus getting more money than you would have with a checkraise.

"This sure beats Super Mario Bros.!" is my ejaculation catch phrase.

I like a c/r a lot here because
1) we are guaranteed at least his cbet given his stats. His 3b range should be wider than our calling range. So he's whiffed most of the time here.
2) he stacks off with QQ+ anyway and possibly JJ (your play may look like a draw a lot here, some aggro players would stack here with A10)
3) A scare card can hit the turn and kill your action from a hand that would have stacked off
4) best protection for our hands if he does have a draw

Played perfect imo. You can also consider a 4bet in this spot pf, depending on how the blind play has gone.

If he folded, it's OK. He whiffed which he was going to most of the time anyway. The board is drawy and the turn could be pretty bad if we C/C.

I always have CR'd these situations, but I think Galapogos is right about the CmR. The min-raise might disillusion some people into thinking they have fold equity b/c I'm just testing their AK.
