Texas Hold'em $1-$1 NL (real money), hand #1,331,889,554
Table kl3ms' HE, 4 Dec 2006 02:18 PM

Seat 1: Galapogos [QD,AS] ($110.65 in chips)
Seat 3: Kapteeni ($201.85 in chips)
Seat 5: Caterpillar8 ($138.55 in chips)
Seat 6: koleso ($42.60 in chips)
Seat 7: OngameBot2k7 ($83.40 in chips)
Seat 8: schlaubinio ($89.10 in chips)
Seat 10: dybwik80 ($46.40 in chips)

ANTES/BLINDS
OngameBot2k7 posts blind ($0.50), schlaubinio posts blind ($1).

PRE-FLOP
dybwik80 calls $1, Galapogos bets $5, Kapteeni calls $5, Caterpillar8 calls $5, koleso calls $5, OngameBot2k7 bets $20, schlaubinio folds, dybwik80 folds, Galapogos really wants to push this biotch...

OngameBot2K7 is a kind of standard everyday player. One of those guys that knows what he's doing but can still be stacked if he has TPTK. The thing that has me here is his weak-ass re-raise preflop. What do you make of this? It looks to me like a high PP that wants to take the pot down here but is afraid of any further action. I would think KK-AA would bet bigger here since this raise does more to build a huge multi-way pot than it does to isolate.

Do you see a flop? Do you fold? Would you push with AKs in this spot? Is AQo just way too weak without a really solid read on the specific player?

The player described has you smoked. He's making that size raise to induce action.

Is this a good play with KK? I normally raise larger because I'm afraid everyone will just call along for the huge pot.

I think it's a pretty good play. Many will fold and AA/KK multi-way is fine. The pot will be so huge that getting out-flopped isn't a big deal.

I had this arguement once with Fnord, I would tend to raise more with KK as well, but I remember the hand was just like this one, a raise and mutiple calls then Fnord 3x'd or so to re raise with KK.

I still think raising more is a good play, but I can see the other side, it's sort of a limit concept - everyone may come along, but you jam the pot with big pairs pre flop because you have a big equity edge. They may run you down short term but you're making money on the calls.
