I am confused. You have the second best starting hand in the game and you want to use it to steal $12?

which is precisely why it's probably very nitty and not optimal....i did it mostly because i didn't wanna see a Axx flop.

another thing...a solid 3bet would be around $30. if we get a caller, because of the size of the pot we'd be forced to felt almost any flop.

and such a donkish lookin push might open up calling ranges...no?

Possibly, but your stack is covering villains so it is less likely the call and stack off.

You're thinking very short term here. Yes sometime's you'll see an ace on the flop, but most of the time you won't and will make more money over time.

I will do what you did if I believe there's a reason I'll get called by worse but I get the feeling since you didn't provide that information in the original post that wasn't what was happening.

If we make it $20, its $16 for someone to call. Someone might call incorrectly with a PP, but I doubt it. Your best chance is action from QQ... and you'll be AI on the flop anyway. $40 pot with about $60 behind going into the flop. A cbet commits you, right?

You'd be surprised how loosely people call three-bets, especially if it's in a squeeze oppourtunity like this. Make it $22, and play a flop (hopefully) because you're making tons of money in these spots.

ok, let's raise it up to 22. DeValois calls (160bb behind). the others fold.
the pot is 52bb, and the flop comes AJ8. or, let's say it comes 765 rainbow. you cbet 40bb, and villain pushes the rest of his 160bb. we have to fold, don't we?

i dunno, i don't see how we can get value postflop unless the opponents are incredibly bad, and i don't have any reason to believe so against these particular opponents.

I really don't think you're a nit. It looks like you are a tourney player who is not used to having to play postflop poker and were faced with a situation where you were unaware of the proper line. You took a line you knew could not be incorrect. It could be a lot less +EV than you could have captured but it is not a -EV play.

ummm...

no, but I'm not sure I understand this line unless you've been donk-shoving other hands and gotten caught.

edit : just read your posts through the thread and it seems like you are looking to avoid marginal spots on the flop and later streets. While you're still playing at this level, you should get used to these spots since playing them well is essential to profiting at higher stakes.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

i think spenda hit the nail. i was gonna do a raise with the raise + CC, but once the 2nd CC came in i went into "sng auto-pilot" mode or something, for the reasons i've state previously....except that this is not the bubble and i have a stack behind me! lookin back at it now, since one guy had a deep 180bb stack, he would only call with AA/KK here.
