Well I think my biggest leak in my game is knowing when to lay it down. I dont have a problem winning alot of hands, im aggressive and about a 21% VP$IP player with 14% PFR and i take down most pots on the flop.

I think most of my profit comes from winning tons of small little pots time after time, but when someone plays at me, I seem to lose more money than I feel I should.

Example hands:

1)Where would you have laid this down or is seeing the river such a bad thing cause if i spike a pair I will take down a pot.

Opponent plays 40% of hands, and has a avg type aggression, PFR 7%, not horribly passive or aggressive.

Im not sure if im over valuing my KQ or just what to do sometimes on these type hands. It appears he hit the flush or maybe has two pair on QJ??

My question here is should I have laid it down against the turn raise?

In think your problem could be that you try and win every pot when that just isnt possible. You call all the way down with nothing and then when your runner-runner "flush" hits you massivly overbet. i dont mind seeing 1 more card on the flop when they only minbet, but on the turn when the betting gets serious you have 6 outs with a chance that someone else will make a flush if the A comes. Why not just fold that turn. It's a pretty small pot and your chances of taking it are also pretty small.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

bigspenda73: But how much did you win?

Hand 1 - you have position on him. A standard line for me here would be to call the flop bet and raise on the turn. He projects weakness by betting the same amount again, so rep the jack or an overpair and raise it to $10 or something like that. If you're not going to play it that way, I don't like chasing after six outs; your flop call is pretty bad for a six outer. Overcards are not a good draw. To stay in this hand you need to mix in some aggression and actively steal the pot from him. Otherwise just fold on the flop. He hit (or has a medium pocket pair) and you missed... let it go.

Hand 2 - tough hand, I usually play it like you did. There's a good case for folding to those turn min-raises unless you have a read that says the opponent might bluff that way. His line oozes strength. Good river fold, anyway.

Hand 3 - I don't like the way you played this hand. Re-raise pre-flop. If you're mixing it up with AK and you miss, you should usually default into a "call small bets, fold to big bets" mode. I don't mind stabbing at the pot on the river, but the overbet is silly - the pot's in the ballpark of $5 and you're betting $10 to try to take it down? Terrible risk/reward. Bet $3 there (it's by far the biggest bet that has been fired at that pot) and you might take it down often enough for it to be profitable.
