This is read dependent. Folding is fine against some opponents.

Could you explain why you checked the turn? 'Us fish' need to know.

To me, that would have suggested weakness (or a trap).

I checked the turn to try and keep the pot small. Theres too much chance he has me beat in this hand so I don't really want to keep pumping money into the pot.

The chance he has me beat is greater then the chance that a free card could cause him to draw out on me.
