In full ring a lot of good players fold hands like KQ and AJ vs preflop raises, fearing that these could be dominated.

In short-handed games where people are much more aggressive (like open-raising suited connectors/gappers/any pair/any ace in LP), would a wider preflop calling range be more profitable?

For me, I
-mix it up (reraise or call) with AK/AQ, suited or not, in position
-mix it up with AK (suited or not) OOP in the blinds (reraise or call)
-call or fold with AQ OOP
-almost always call with AQs OOP
-fold unsuited AJ/KQ or worse OOP
-call up to 4x with stronger suited aces/broadways and 3x with KTs/QJs/QTs/JTs in position
-call up to 3x with AJs/KQs OOP heads-up. If multiway I'll call with the weaker suited broadways too.

Are we assuming 100BB effective stacks?

If so, I play it the same, except I'll call up to 4x on the last one and play it as a suited connector (i.e. not stack off if I pair).
