This guy sucks a decent bit. He has taggish stats but he's missing the fundamentals.
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $5/$10
6 players
Converter
Stack sizes:
Irisheyes: $1055.95
UTG+1: $1000.00
CO: $838.15
Button: $304.25
SB: $790.10
BB: $2127.90
Pre-flop: (6 players) Irisheyes is UTG with J A
Irisheyes raises to $41.8, UTG+1 folds, CO calls, 3 folds.
Flop: J 5 5 ($98.6, 2 players)
Irisheyes checks, CO bets $80, Irisheyes calls.
Turn: 2 ($258.6, 2 players)
Irisheyes bets $173.9, CO calls.
River: 2 ($606.4, 2 players)
Irisheyes checks, CO is all-in $542.45, Irisheyes ???

since u dont know what to do when he checks and push, it might be better just to bet river yourself and hope he calls with worse

By "dont know" do you mean I shouldn't do this unless I have some reason to believe he will bluff?

sucky spot..i think even though the line looks like ur hand, i would fold without a read he'd bluff there, or at least some more reads.
but i agree block betting again probably would make it easier to decide...still would be tough when u have just a psb left.

I'd call, I dont put him on a hand here that a Taggish guy would call and then hit this board. Plus, you're line is one that makes you look weak so I would call here.

i think he could have 5xs, 55, even JJ. he called in LP vs someone with a probable tight range.
i just dont like variance...but maybe folding is too weak after checking the river in the higher stakes game.

I would bet flop 100% of the time here (regardless of my actual holding). That being said, AJ is prolly towards the bottom of ur range once we get to river, does he think hes getting you to fold a big pair? Meh, I fold here.

I check missed hands OOP a lot so I like to balance. But yeah of all the boards to "bluff" this is a good one.

Irish- I check missed hands OOP a good amount too, but checking here is definitely a mistake.
1. Your hand is vulnerable and medium strength- any K or Q and you have to re-eval, and getting raised on this flop isn't such a bad thing as you get away relatively cheaply- you want to define ur hand here.
2. You get called by A LOT of worse hands which are in his CO calling range and have little to no chance to improve: any pair, QJ, KJ, maybe even a float here and there. Also any of these hands can boat up if given a free card and ur kind of committed to call 2 bets given ur flop line. Also if an ace falls you kill your action vs this entire range.
So Irish, Im not saying dont balance, but this isnt the time- you want to be balancing with hands that have little chance to improve and have little chance to be drawn out on- and with which you want to play a medium sized pot with. That basically means TPTK, mid pair TK, top and bottom pair, and overpairs.
As played, you have slightly overrepped your hand and he still shoves the river- most players arent capable of floating the turn here and bluffing this river- I muck.

I thought about it and I decided that your hand looks much more like 77-1010 than AJ.
Plus it's hard to make boats/quads.
So I call.
(u r welcome for enlightening brilliant posts like this one)
