Can you explain your thought process here? I'm always curious how solid people are in their reads to make plays like this.

also, he shoved river really fast...there's got to be some thought process behind a value overbet shove on this board. just seemed like he was pissed that i called the turn.

NC indeed, opp smell a bad hand and dont think you can call a shove. Not a great river to try it on tho. I can somewhat understand the flop, turn and river action, your playing against the bluff alone, but..

What was your basic thinking behind the preflop line? He hafto give up alot either preflop / cbet flops for it to be a good idea with 53o dont he? I dont know the player, but his line with AJo doesnt look like that type of player at all.

This could ofc be due to that you have been 3betting like a mokey and he has just about had enough. But now it's like one of those TV hands.

Whenever I feel like trying this he has A8 or something dumb like that. I hate it when donks accidently merge their range.

The more I think about it though you guys are definately right, this is a bad line for a competent hand player to take with anything so it very likely is air.

preflop is pretty standard for me. i play tighter than most regs but make a lot of situational 3bets like this. here, there was a poster so there's an extra 1.5bb in the pot to begin with, so the button raises 5x with what i assume is about 50% of his hands in this spot.
