Ok,

I need help in playing a couple of scenarios.

1) I have QQ on the button. Its raised preflop 4x BB. I re raise another 3x their bet.

Flop comes down J 6 2.

I bet 3/4 pot, Villian calls.

Turn 6.

I bet 3/4 pot again and get called.

River 3.

I bet and am all in and get called.

Villian shows 2 2.

How do I get away from this? Is there anyway you can?

2) I have Q J and raise 4 xBB and get called by opponent on the button.

Flop: A J 6.

I bet 2/3 pot, opponent calls.

Turn: Q.

I bet 2/3 pot and get raised 3 x my bet

Can i get away from this seeing i hit two pair on the turn?

I would appreciate your honesty as these as two situations that are causing me grief. Maybe i need to learn to let go of big hands easier?

the problem is your out of position and he only needs to call as your agressive enough to do the betting for him. I doubt I would fold the QQ hand here btw...

I think you can get away here looking at the board. though it also depends if the board is rainbow or suited. usually a turn raise at 25NL is pure strength. 2p+

Not much you can do with the QQ hand, but you should rise more preflop. Like at least 3.5x his bet. It gives him worse odds to call and you're definately not folding out more of his range by doing this.

1 is standard unless you're playing against someone very good

2, I never fold here, I always should though

hand 1 is fine. This is why you are at such a disadvantage playing OOP.

hand 2: This should be a fold here almost always, especially at lower stakes. Another example of dificult decisions playing OOP.

it doesnt matter, hand 1 is bet/bet/bet in or out of position. hand 2, it depends on the player, but typically you are only beating a bluff.

Hand 2: What worse hand calls your bet on the flop?
Unless your opponent is the type to calls down with any pair and gut-shot straight draws, then just check the flop.

Oh and QJ sucks so just fold it pre-flop unless you are on the button and there is no raise before you.

Thanks for all the replys guys.

I really think looking back i probably could have got away from hand 2.

Hand 1 - i find it really hard to read when someone has a set.

I guess hand two is a common example for my play and I seems to always lose my entire stack to hands like this.

Its as if I hit my 2 pair and suddenly nothing else matter, its like i have a huge hand and feel invincible.

That of course is not the case, so i need to change my thinking completely.

I need to look at what hands beat me and what hands would call me etc i guess.

My sessions alway seem to be going great being agressive, picking up small pots and then as i said i lose my entire stack on a hand like the two above.

Appreciate all your feedback so far and anymore advice would be much appreciated.

We fail at extracting value from worse hands which readless make up a big part of opponent's range.
