50 NL, UB. 5 handed. I have $52 on the button. Opp 1 has $86 and is on the CO. Opp 2 just sat down and has $24 from the BB.

Opp 1 has been quite aggressive from most positions pf, while I have been playing a somewhat weak-tight game so far. I was a little out of line when I first sat down, but have been straightforward since then. I think I have been at the table for about an hour, maybe 1:15.

PF: opp 1 raises to 1.75 (standard, bet pot button), folds to me on the button with . I reraise to 5.5. opp 2 calls from the BB, opp 1 calls.

flop: (pot = 16.75) opp2 thinks for a while, then checks. opp 1 bets 8, I raise to 20. (My thinking here is that I can continue to rep the overpair and hopefully take it down. even if opp 2 calls, he most likely has a mid PP so I am not too bad. and if opp 2 calls, the big stack will have to fold)

what do you think?

I don't like it; I don't think you can fold out overpairs enough to make this worthwhile.

I would probably just fold to the $8 bet.

push the flop if you want to play.

Why? What on earth is the point? Seriously, I am getting sick of hearing this line. Plz to defend it while actually making some sort of sense.

Genitruc is an unknown quantity at this point
Your line screams strength but ppl who value their hand regardless of the signs your giving off will feel "commited" to only pay for 12$ more.

This would be good vs a thinking villain so if you think he's that type, then fine.

I think pushing would be horrendous here regardless of the villain (what would you be repping, why would you be pushing, etc...).
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

I agree. Since I'm a noob at cash, please give me the 411 on why you would push here as a bluff?

Ditto. Seriously, Iowa, you're playing a high variance style these days that might be paying off for you in the short term but isn't necessarily good play, so if you're going to make these kind of recommendations please do the work to justify them.

anyways, shorty from the BB called, the big stack folded. BB had 99 and I backdoored my flush.

on the plus side, two hands later my set of 8's was paid when the big stack from this hand hit TP w/ a KJ and got it all in on the flop against me for a nice $150 pot.
