Preflop is often a 3-bet but against this stack I felt I was getting shoved on quite a bit by a flip or bigger pair and I’m really trying to cut down on variance as much as I can for a little while (a discussion in itself).

Also I don’t really know much about villain but based on his stack size, def not a reg…

No stats yet.

I’m curious about what ppl think about every street. I think flop CR is pretty standard but the turn is a really interesting spot. Villain took a LONG time to call the turn.

How about turning my hand into a bluff and shoving river?

not sure i like the turn, but i dont hate it either. i dont like bluffing river though doesnt seem like he will be giving up too often if he called turn even though he might have been thinking about folding it.

preflop is fine, bet a little biggre on turn 60-65 and shutdown on river/shove river is read dependant, my standard here is to expect them NOT to fold an overpair so i shutdown 80% of the itme
Nine to five is how to survive - I ain't trying to survive / I'm trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot //

The time after you say good-bye to someone on the street but then realize you're both going in the same direction and so you both try to go faster/slower than the other guy.. that's an awkward spot too.

flop is a bluff, turn is a bluff, river as played i would bluff 100%

i ve never been a big fan of "raising for protection" but how often is a big hand of his betting less than 1/2 pot on that flop on a very scary board vs a blind-defending hand?

I have no reason to let him get there with KJ or whatever for free, and judging by the size of his c-bet and his stack size, he's not a terribly strong player so I'd doubt I'm picking up a lot of cash by calling 2 or 3 barrels.

This seems like a pretty easy spot to c/r a marginal hand OOP. Not c/r just lets him get there with diamonds ( a little unlikely based on size of his bet) and overs.

The thing is he probably has some sort of draw, not random overcards, when he bets that amount on the flop, and I'd expect absolutely any draw to show a profit in position vs your 99 after this flop action.

hmmm i m surprised the flop play elicited more replies than the turn

glad I posted the hand

thx for replies ppl

villain called turn and checked down on the riv and i was amazed that I had luckboxed my way into max value

one thing about this hand is it seems to me my line looks more like a draw than villain's...

wow nh, i make bad read

btw its not like i hate the flop play because it definitely has its merits and i do it sometimes but whenever i think about hands like this i feel like its not the best choice vs a decent player.
