Just for the sake of completeness, this is why I raise this:
o Lowers the SPR
o Gets some speculative hands to fold, making it more likely 1 pair is the best hand or we can c-bet into only 1 or 2 players
o AQ SUITED will hit a lot of flops.

It kind of hurts in that it defines your hand a bit out of position and unable to take a4 card flop. In a very loose live game, I'll raise it up to build the pot and just tend not to c-bet unless I hit. Online I'm more inclined to c-bet, but you still need to just give it up sometimes or at least take a quick look at who you're contesting the pot with.

I used to check this preflop as well until someone here, I think it was Galapogos, adviced me to definately raise.
After doing that for a while, I'm pretty sure raising is better.

I still sometimes check AQo in live games where people are limping strong hands because they don't know any better. Probably a mistake. The added chance of a rare hidden flush draw makes AQs a super-easy raise. Same with KQs and AJs. Calling in just about any game texture is a clear mistake.

raising pf would set up a really nice turn shove.

So BB raising range here is like pairs 66+/AJs+/AQo+/KQs

We do limp suited connectors 56+ I assume? but not much else?

ok, general consensus is that raising PF is +EV in that situation...what about this one:

assume no reads on anyone.

$1/$2 No Limit Holdem
6 players

Stacks:
100bb effective

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $7, CO calls $7, 1 fold, SB folds, Hero calls or 3bets? what about 2 cold callers?

When you don't know, just 3 bet til you get a feel for how these hands tend to play out. This one is probably pretty close, and when it's close I like taking the more aggressive line.

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

I'd be more inclined to 3-bet there with the button or less money behind.
