the player in question is 40/10/2. i've seen him make some weird bets with underpairs then calling raises, minibet a 3-way flop from the SB with nothing or make huge rivers bets that looked like obvious ss donk bluffs.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter

CO ($58.45)
Button ($53.45)
Hero ($54.05)
BB ($68.95)
UTG ($58.68)
MP ($16.40)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q, A. Hero posts a blind of $0.25.
2 folds, CO calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero (poster) completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($1.50) Q, 4, J(3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, CO bets $1, Hero raises to $3, BB folds, CO calls $2.

Turn: ($7.50) 8(2 players)Hero bets $4, CO calls $4.

River: ($15.50) 6(2 players)
Hero ???

Final Pot: $31.50

raise pf like i would a big pair or AK from the blinds? bet the flop and not let him take a shot at it? blocking bet or not? or any other better options...

result in white : HERO BLOCKS 8$ , CO CALLS AND WINS WITH 2 PAIR... Q8s

Kind of the dilemma of playing out of position. Hard to tell how ot play the river. Junst an unlucky hand, but I would definately slow down on the river.

Raise preflop!! & blockbet river ~$7? I don't like a check here if he likes to bluff big, as you said.

I no longer raise AQo from EP. Most donks will call anyway, so you're not clearing anyone out of the hand except maybe the good players who are usually easier to put on hands. The problem still lies in out of position play. I think with AQ its a quick stab and then turn to passivity. Totally different game in LP.

My read on the flop is that he has top pair weak kicker. On the turn he still has the weak kicker or slim chance hit two pair. On the river there are so few hands you are beating I'd check/call.
