gabe is 100% pure balla, he needs not make any effort at anything. You should see his studying habits, straight up ballin'. It goes something like this: drink a 6 pack, play an hour, make $20k, quit due to boredom, then pass out.

Gabe, some random thoughts about the following would be appreciated:

1 Adjusting to light 3bettors in position and oop - what do you do?

2 adjusting your 3bet freqs against lags - i get confused here a lot because i'll have something like ATs or 88 in the small blind and figure to be way ahead of lag's button range but I let myself get pushed off too easily post flop. if i hit a pair or draw im willing to stick it in. It cant be +ev to stone cold bluff often in 3bet pots but if i only play back when i have something i become too predictable

Gabe, can I ask what your stats are at 6max for Won when Seeing Flop and Won at Showdown? I am especially intrigued as to how often one hopes to win flops and whether better players can win close to/over 50% of the flops they see.

(I currently win 41% of the flops I see and I really don't know if this is high or low)

I want to just reiterate this one. How do you deal with light 3 bettors oop? What's the best way to mix up playing back at them? And I mean when they are doing it almost optimally, where it's like 50/50 whether or not they actually have a good hand.

Which FTR members, current or past, playing low/mid stakes, have the potential to be really good in your opinion based on what you have seen through play and/or posts? (posted hands/thoughts regarding theory etc...)

Which 2+2 players do you respect the most?

ISF posts some stuff that requires a bit higher level thinking, so maybe him. he gets alot of stuff wrong but seems like he tries to out-think opponents more than most ftr ppl.

obviously there are some sick players on 2p2, but i wont comment on the ones i havent played with. cts and krantz get respect because they know how to open up their games unlike most of the nits over there.

-i like playing alot of pots vs them in position when they have a wide range. also its good to mix it up with the big hands QQ+ AK so they can't be too sure of what you are doing postflop much.

-lately ive gotten so i really like to take flops with anyone who i think makes mistakes. ive been 3 betting less OOP because i faced similiar problems. this might not be the answer you are looking for but 3 bet less with the occasional light one mixed in.

that stupid hand took my profits away from my session.

    anyways, a more serious question.
what do you think of over betting and over pushes? do you use them in your game? what kind of situations do you find them profitable?
  22. #172
I know at your level this doesn't happen much, but do you ever c a turn intending to fold but then change your mind because of the size of the bet? IE i have 55 and raise 4x pre. tight guy calls. Flop comes AT6, you bet 3/4ths pot he calls. turn is a 7. you check and then he bets 1/6th pot. You've never really seen him do it before but he's straightforward. Is it ever not spewy to raise in this spot?

Gabe, how closely do you observe all your tables? Are you taking notes (mentally or pstars note) on people all the time, are you looking at only large pots and showdowns, or do you even pay attention to hands you aren't involved in?

How beneficial do you think Halvsame's bigpotgrabber is to a persons game? If you don't know what i'm talking about, it's a great program that takes all the big pots while you are playing and puts them in a little window so you can look at them easily.

i used to live by them, but then i started doing them too much.

i think they are profitable when the other person has shown they like their hand. like if you are leading the betting the entire hand (raise pre, bet flop, bet turn, checked to you on riv) the villian hasnt shown they like their hand much, so its usually a better spot for a value bet. this does change with different villians of course but i think its a good concept.

yea of course, this can go with the bet being smaller or bigger than i would expect.

i try to look at every showdown including mucked hands of all big pots but of course i miss some every now and then. this includes hands im not involved in too. i play with alot of the same people so i do try and takes notes on them.

thats interesting idea and i think ill check it out

specifically what helped you reazlie you can beat some of the bigger games online against tough players? considering you only started out wanting to win $1k per month..

How much of your play is purely instinct? For example, every once in a while i'll be multitabling and a table will pop up, and i'll suddenly get the feeling that i should do a certain action, even though i can't think of why it would be good. Does this stuff happen to you and do you follow your gut in these situations even though it's a little illogical?

once I play stakes above 200 or 400 I lose 70% of my aggression and start playing scared. I also get really results oriented. I already have my 40+ buyins for 2000PL/NL but it's going to waste just sititng there and I'm thinking about withdrawing it to invest it.

You obviously seem to enjoy risk. Do you have any advice for me?

there were not any real moments--it was really gradual. of course there were some things that got me on the path to thining on different levels but i think i alraedy mentioned them.

like at lower stakes i learned how to beat up on fish. then i learned how not to get stacked by the regulars so much. then i started to learn how to beat up on those same regulars..
