villain is 49-35 with 11% 3-bet over 50 hands. I'm probably looking a little exploitable in that I've folded to his aggression a couple of times.

I call preflop figuring to be ahead of his range, but that 4-betting is going to get me into trouble or win me a smallish pot. I call planning to donk any flop with an Ace or King, and to check raise most other flops. Once the flop comes like this it seems the most obvious check-shove ever cos it looks kinda fos and i figure villain will be calling with high cards and/or any piece. I also think he's the type of player to put me on a one-hand range and figure he'll be expecting to see 44 a lot.

ridiculous? optimistic?

you could just call the flop... i dont see him calling you with overs here.. hands he'll call with that you're ahead of i think are 77 or 88..

if he's the type that loves to just pot pot pot whenever you check, why not let him bluff more on turns?

If he was getting so out of line, I'd 4bet/get-this in preflop.

99 is gonna be waaay too hard to play against an aggro player, OOP.

4bet/call pre.

Also how is the fact that he will likely put you on 44 relevant? Not being an ass, just curious. Because if you're thinking it means he'll call you lighter with hands you beat, I don't see how. Overs are way behind 44, you have 99 (one of the hands he could make a light call with), and all other PPs either have you dominated or are sets or are not betting the flop.

Not saying you're wrong to shove as played, just pointing out an oddity in your thought process.

re 4-betting, I think this makes the hand easier but doesn't maximise EV from the situation. Maybe I'm wrong though? and you're right, it will result in difficult spots OOP.

Thanks for the comment, I wasn't sure about my thought process here either, hence the post!

I think the 44/bluff perception that the shove induces is useful in that he'll snap call any piece. So A5/A6/67/77/88 suddenly start calling. I can also see him being dumb enough to think A4=44 and call two overcards cos he doesn't know stats.

Another reason i posted is to see how much my perception of the spot was coloured by villain snapping A5o

Ok I see what you meant now by mentioning that 44 thing. For some reason when I wrote that post I was locked in on the idea of villain have either PPs or overs and nothing else.

Pretty sure he didn't call you because he put hands like 44 heavy into your range though. He's just a tard.

don't bother 4b/calling
shove it in as a 4b because these donks will flat your 4b and the board will come AKQ
