I felt I played this one pretty good, just got unlucky near the end. Well at least I think I played alright, I'm sure you guys will find something that I need to improve on I am trying to mix up my game a lot more so that I'm not so easy to read. Let me know if I did a good enough job of that in this one.

I dont think you played well at all. You were making the most horrendous calls throughout this HU.
I really have no idea what you are doing in hands 2,3,4,5, 27. You have absolutely nothing, no draws, nothing and you are just bleeding chips badly and for no reason. Just because it is HU doesnt mean you have to call after the flop with garbage. You really need to go back to the drawing board and find a new style of play. You were extremely easy to read preflop and postflop. You called down when you had trash and raised when you had something. Honestly, i think you would get torn apart by any semi-decent player.
I think you should read up on some theory of how to play HU and ask others to post HH of their HU games so you can learn because it looks like this was your first time playing.

Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence :P I called down early on with nothing to see what my opponent was doing...so was willing to give up a bit for information. Hand 27 was pretty cheap to see what he was playing there...which was A9. Cheap information.

I am actually a winning player heads up, so I must be doing something right. I just want to improve my game though as I do have a harder time against the more aggressive players. I have read all 3 HOH, Super System, and Super System 2...so I have an idea.

I will take your advice and try and go through some other player's HU hand histories to see how they play.

That bad eh, let's see what some other people think.

Probably not. Its just not smart in my opinion.
I think the most important thing heads up, is controlling pot size. I dont know what that has to do with anything, but i think so.

Hand 1: I like.

Hand 2: I dont like.

Hand 3: I dont like this either. Ask yourself why you're calling. Being a station isnt going to get you anywhere. You could call because you want to see what the turn brings. You could call because you're setting up a move. You cant keep calling just to see what opp has.

Hand 4: Stop this. If every game involved calling down to see what opp is playing early, you have leaks.

Hand 5: Ok.

Hand 6: Good.

Hand 7: Much better.

Hand 8: Good.

Hand 9: Perfect!

Hand 10: Ok.

Hand 11: Great hand all around.

Hand 12: I like this. What did he muck? Try to include that info in future threads.

Hand 13: I dunno, its only 20 chips, but I dont think theres much value in this. I think you're letting curiosity rule your decision here.

Hand 15: Take a stab at some of these orphaned flops (no flop bet, lead turn).

Hand 16: You're slipping! Raise this up PF.

Hand 18: Good.

Hand 19: I probably let this go on the flop. He hasnt raised PF much, so we dont even know if our A high is valid.

Hand 20: Played fine.

Hand 21: Good.

Hand 23: I really dont like building a pot OOP without a sweet hand, but this worked.

Hand 24: good.

Hand 25: good.

Hand 26: You have an A, raise PF. As played...I dont mind this, I also dont mind a raise on the turn. Not sure which I like most. GF I think.

Hand 27: I probably make a bet on the river. You'll pay off the 8 sometimes, but you get called a lot by A and K high who think you're stealing with 2 pairs on the board. Look at it another way, why were you calling turn and flop with T high? You cant showdown crap like that without trying something. If your plan was to make a river move, then do the same but hope for a call this time. I pretty much hate this hand for its lack of a postflop poker move. What did he muck?

Hand 28: Raise this PF. Reraise flop. You've let him steal these cheap flops all game. You've got to be prepared to take one off him now and then.

Hand 29: Good.

Hand 30: Take a leaf out of his book and donk the flop.

Hand 31: Reraise flop I think, but not sure you'd have extracted more.

Hand 32: Good hand, except I'd raise PF.

Hand 33: Again, you need to steal more.

Hand 35: This hand makes me happy. Perfect!

Hand 37: I'm not sure. I probably make my turn bet larger to represent a made flush even though I've hit bottom pair. Makes it much riskier for him to make a move also, which makes this an easier fold.

Hand 38: This is fine.

Hand 43: This is fine.

Hand 44: I dunno. We seem to be c/r all our good hands. I'm tempted to play this one differently, but fine as played. We need to find ways to build big pots.

Hand 48: Obviously fine.



All in all, I think a bit too predictable. I know you said you tried to mix it up, but you bet your pairs, c/r TP and better, and c/f the rest. Very few hands fell outside that pattern. HU isnt all about post flop moves or 'playing poker', but until you bring some of that into your game you're going to be behind the black ball.

Think of it this way, if noone 'plays poker' then you each win 50% of pots. Except, you dont. You sometimes fold a winning hand (bottom pair, or K high to a turn bet or something). So in effect you're only going to win 40% of hands or less, unless you're prepared to 'win' some hands when you're behind.
Just playing to improve.
