villain here is kind of a nit tag, running 11/9/12. idk if the AF is a glitch but thats what it said. it was over about 200 hands. he had tried to bluff me an orbit back or so on an A A 8 6 2 board. is there just nothing i can do about this hand? is shove pretty standard?

If hero bets and leaves any money behind, villian can shove over and put hero to a difficult decision. Shoving eliminates the fear of being pushed off our hand. Hero wants to take the pot down as its nice and the board is only going to get scarier for hero's hand.
Those are some reasons I can think of to shove but on the flip side I can only see the shove being called when hero is way behind.

Spew?
I prefer a turn c/f unless villain is known to call down super light. Your are usually toast to his calling range.

No, this is not necessarily true.
There are two types of hands that will "push us off our hand". The hands that are better than ours (flushes, two pairs, sets) and the hands that are worse.
Shoving will get called by all hands that are better than ours, and will fold out any worse hand that would have tried to bluff in this spot.
You're losing the most when you're beat and winning the least when you're ahead, pretty much. Also I don't think any better hands are folding cause it wouldn't make much sense for you to shove a flush like this, so I think all two pairs/sets are still calling.
edit: in this actual hand, shoving isn't horrible due to MP's stack size, but if he had 100bb's I don't think it would be good.

Oh wait I never noticed the stacks. I actually c/f I think, there's not much value here except AT/A9s.

well the reason i shoved was similar to what griff said. i am ahead of a lot of his range and behind a lot, but this is a great board to bluff if he puts me on a naked A. i think it would be really bad to c/c this, and marginally bad to c/f.

I'm not good at c/f'ing, but I think it could be best here like Irish said.
This turn is brutal. You're behind KT, AQ, AJ, QJ, all flushes. Depending how fishy opponent is you might only get called by KdQ, KdJ or some pair with the nut FD.
